Vehicle Detail
69 Camaro coupe, setup for a 4 speed - numbers matching - original 327 engine, carburetor to oil pan Also have available for separate purchase: a date code correct 3932386 Block clearanced for 383 stroker but could build either:350/300 Hp SS motor or a 302 Z28 motor - date code correct block. Build it as you like…. YOU Decide! Car Overview: You are bidding on a 1969 Camaro coupe in need of complete restoration. At first glance this car looks rough however, after doing some research I find that it is far more restorable than most of the “project” cars I’ve seen sell on EBAY. With all the replacement panels available this car becomes a relatively easy restoration for the right person. I have restored a number of these cars and because the rear wheel wells were mini-tubed out I don’t feel its worth trying to restore it to 100% original. With so many after market tubing kits and suspension kits available I would go that way and make the car a Pro-Touring / Clone. Ultimately that’s all up to the buyer. This 69 Camaro appears to have spent some of its life as a track car. The seats, heater, window regulators, gas tank and misc. other stuff were removed to lighten the car. The rear wheel wells were mini tubed (lousy job) to accommodate the slicks. The car has a drive shaft loop and frame connectors. The car is set up for a 4 speed with clutch and brake pedals but there is NO transmission. The roof, quarter sails down to the upper quarters, door jambs rockers and rear frame are all in great shape! The trim tag was removed and cannot be located but judging by the serial number it was pre-X-code. Therefore this car can be whatever you like it to be. The winning bidder will have first right of refusal to purchase an optional date code correct engine. The Engine is a “matching numbers” 327 engine from carburetor to oil pan - casting # 3932386 block, date code: I-18-8 with VO9I9FK stamped on the stamp pad. The heads have casting numbers 3911032 and 39327185. The date codes are D 17 8 and H 10 2 respectively. I believe one of the heads was replaced in 1972. Intake and carburetor are included. I believe that they are correct for the engine. Engine option TWO (for additional cost) is a four-bolt main 3932386 block, date code: H-24-8. This is the correct casting number for both the 350/300 HP SS motor and the 302/Z28 motor. It could be built either way. The casting date is correct for the build date of the car. This block was professionally boiled, bored 0.040 over, has new cam bearings, honed and is ready for assembly. It was also clearanced for building a 383 stroker engine. This is a very rare “bare block”. Crank, pistons, connecting rods, heads, etc. are NOT included. THE BAD NEWS: The car needs front left and right front floor pans, the trunk pan, outer wheel housings and quarter panels. Sections of the front cowl, by the heater and on the driver’s side near the electrical plug and the dash are severely rusted. This panel is available as a replacement part. The front windshield is cracked. The inner wheel houses would be best replaced also. I would use an after market mini tub kit. The links below are the perfect solutions to the wheel well issues and wound significantly improve the handling of the car. www.martzchassis.net/page7.htm and www.detroitspeed.com/Product%20Pages/rear_suspension.htm and also the article at http:superchevy.com/technical/paint_body/bodywork/0409sc_minitub_copy/. The rear panel may have to be replaced. Due to rust and modifications to the fire wall the hidden VIN’s are not readable. There are no seats and the rest of the interior needs replacement. The blue 1970's rally wheels do not go with the car. THE GOOD NEWS: There is almost no rust on the rockers and the door jams are exceptional. Most of the structural parts of the cowl are good. All of the main structural parts of the car that give it its strength are very good. IE The connection to the cowl, the rockers, door jambs, rear floors, rear frame rails, overall trunk and roof are all in very good condition. The inset in the roof (front and rear) where the glass fits in is all good with the exception of the bottom of the front windshield. (Dash problem noted earlier). The doors are OK but I would probably replace. The tail light panel is basically straight but you may want to replace it with the quarters. I would also go with an after market rear suspension setup. All glass is good original except front wind shield. NOTE: I make no claim as to the correctness or originality of the car or associated parts. Please do your own research and make your own decisions as to what you are buying BEFORE you bid. Miscellaneous Stuff: The Vehicle may be picked up in Rutherford, New Jersey. I prefer local pickup. On Jan-02-15 at 20:26:33 PST, seller added the following information: Not sure if I mentioned this: This car looks to be originally MARINA BLUE - BLACK Interior. NJ PAPER TITLE is in hand and is clearly a V-8 car.
