Vehicle Detail
For sale, 1974 International Harvester 100 4x4 one-repaint survivor truck. This truck was purchased new by a rancher from Broadview(pop 190), in the Montana high desert, land of the sagebrush and prickly pear cactus. The original rancher owner used this as his "Sunday go to town" truck for runs to Billings, a 66 mile round trip. After many well-maintained and happy years it was handed down to his granddaughter and her husband, who I recently purchased it from. I have the original manuals, warranty tag, original 20 day sticker from selling dealer, original IH keys, and build sheet (line set ticket). With 134k easy highway miles, the truck looks, drives, and feels like 34k. Really runs and drives well, use as is for a fun driver or take this desirable dry western truck to the next level. Exterior: One repaint in the original Burnished Gold color (which is actually more of a green than gold) some years back and it shines well. Truck was stored outside for a time and the clear on the top of the truck is starting to peel. Most noticeable on roof, but there are a few spots on tops of fenders and box. Looks great for a driver and gets many compliments, but for show duty plan on re-clearing just the top of the truck. The black side panel was added at the time of the repaint, the truck was not factory equipped with the black panel. Inside of box is nice and was left original so you can Rhinoline it or paint it. Inner box wheel wells not beat up.Truck is 98 percent rust free, with only a couple minor spots. There is one small blister at the very bottom of the back of the box, one small spot just starting near the driver hood hinge, and one spot at front floor of box, and a small area where inner front fender well meets floor. See link below for underside pics, nothing hidden with undercoating, what you see is what you get. Both inner and outer rockers, cab mounts and cab drop-offs look great. We don't see major rust or rot issues in this arid country- there's just no moisture. We only get 10 inches of total precipitation annually, and no salt is used on the roads. Exterior chrome and trim in good/fair condition, a few dings but no pitting. Glass is good, windshield has been replaced and it's perfect with no chips or scratches. Overall a very solid truck. Interior: Original and presentable for a driver or working truck. Headliner, door panels, armrests, and original IH floormat all in good condition. A few cracks in dash as shown and seat has a few tears under the cover. Seat isn't worn out or broken down. All gauges and speedo work, but speedo cable needs lube and makes noise every so often. Radio turns on but tuner is sticky, as are heater controls. Tilt column has some play in the bushing. Nice enough to use as is, and restore later if you want it super nice. Mechanical: Starts, runs, drives and stops well. 4x4 works fine. Motor sounds good and pulls strong, no significant leaks in my garage when truck was parked overnight. Drives smooth and straight at 75mph. Equipped with the venerable and bulletproof 345 V8, 727 trans and 205 transfer case with Dana 44 axles. Oil pressure is good, no noticeable smoke. Motor does have the typical IH wrist pin/piston noise that is very noticeable when cold if you are standing in front of the truck. Quiets down when fully warm. Engine will go a long time with no worries if you let it warm up a bit before hard use.Truck is tight with few squeaks or rattles. New dual exhaust. Only issue that needs immediate attention is lack of turn signals/stop/tail lamps. Usually this is caused by bad ground at one of the sockets, or turn signal switch. From what I can tell it's ready to use and enjoy other than that. Tires are newer 31 x 10.50 with only a couple thousand miles on them. Chrome wheels are in good condition with no pitting. Emergency brake cables need replaced, NOS ones are included with truck, also original wheels and hubcaps will be included with the truck. Pricing/Misc: I got a good deal on this rig and you will too. The D series IH trucks in good condition are extremely difficult to find. Most of them were beat to death or rusted into the ground. These trucks book a ton, but reserve is under $4000 for quick sale.Transport is readily available and cheaper than fixing rust on a Midwest or East Coast truck. Title is clear and signed off by previous owner and ready to fill your name in as purchaser. GOOD LUCK! Keep in mind that with all cars and trucks, THEY LOOK BETTER IN PICTURES THAN IN PERSON. Don't bid expecting a mint perfect creampuff, this truck is a great driver quality rig, but not concours show quality. It's an honest, solid truck and what you see is what you get. It wouldn't be practical to expect to fly in and drive it home. GOOD LUCK! If you have less than 5 feedback, please contact me via the "ask a question" link and let me know you are a serious bidder with the funds available for purchase. If I don't hear from you, your bid(s) may be cancelled. THANKS******************On Jan-03-15 at 12:34:00 PST, seller added the following information: *****UPDATE 1/3/15 was doing some checking on the truck today with a buyer on the phone and discovered there is a spot a couple inches long on the wiring loom under the box going to the back of the truck that was burned by the muffler(before the new exhaust was installed). That may be all that's wrong with the lights. Also the tailgate rods need adjustment, the latch doesn't always open the gate. I was able to open it by manipulating the rod behind the latch on the inside of the box. Also, the outside mirrors were installed with oversize screws that aren't factory. Thanks and GOOD LUCK ****************
