Less than 5000 miles on rebuilt 2 fuel injected hydraulic valve motor and transmission by local VW shop here in Portland Oregon. I have paper work on the rebuild. Mint interior, all seats have been reupholstered. Full show quality high end window out, door off paint job on rust free body. All new door and window seals. Only 152k original miles. The van has only been driven sparingly since the restoration. The van has always been garaged. Absolutely ZERO RUST!!! The van looks like it just rolled of the show room floor in 1979. Both the first and second owners were meticulous when it came to the maintenance and general care and preservation of the van. Custom made awning cost over $1500 is included. The van was stored for many years prior to restoration. Runs, drives, perfect. One of the best, if not the best Riviera's in the country. The pictures speak for them selves.... PAINT/ BODY- Show quality full window out paint job over the original paint. Doors were removed as well. The car was painted using Dupont 2 stage paint. The entire bus was color sanded and buffed and polished. Several coats of clear coat were applied to give the paint a very nice shine and depth. All the doors were removed as well as all windows. The doors were repainted including the interior sides. All jambs were repainted. The bus was repainted its rare factory orange color. The paint was done to show quality standards. The body is laser strait, all door and body gaps are perfect. The bus was completely rust free and needed very little body work. All new door seals and window rubber on all windows. All glass is in good condition. Sought after factory orange and white color, (rare on a Riviera). The bumpers and wheels where sandblasted and repainted. No wrecks or accident history. All lenses are in good condition. Spotless under carriage. The factory under coating is still in great condition. The wheel wells had new undercoating applied when the van was repainted. This is a accident and rust free West Coast VW. POP TOP- The pop top is in great condition, The original canvas is in excellent condition. The upper bunk upholstery is like new. The entire fiberglass pop top was repainted at the time of restoration. INTERIOR- This interior is mint condition. Brand new correct reproduction front seat upholstery, seat padding and matching correct door panels. The rear camping bed/seat were completely reupholstered by a professional shop using high quality memory foam padding. The bed is very comfortable to sleep on. Rare step/storage stool was also reupholstered. All, cabinets are mint original with no chips, cracks, scuffs ect., carpet is brand new. New rugs and door mats cover the new carpet. All dome lights, dash lights, camping lights work. Custom L.E.D. bulbs were installed in the instrument cluster. Custom L.E.D. camping lights were installed that run of the aux battery. The dash is mint with no cracks. All the electrical works perfect. The head liner front and rear is in mint original condition. The rear bed is a full size bed. One feature unique to this year of Riviera is that you can fold down one side of the bed so one passenger can be laying down , the other can be in the sitting position. Nice storage bins mounted under the z bed and neatly store all camping supplies. New CD player, amp, and high end speakers front and rear. The stereo system sound nice. All new custom maid curtains installed on factory track system. The curtains for the front and side windows are also included. The fridge works great and runs ice cold and can be run of the aux battery as well. The manual and electric sink pumps works great. The counter tops and small fold up table were all redone using custom tile as you can see in the pictures this was a labor intensive job. All the tables and interior panels were all redone with new Formica. Many hours went into the custom finishes on the counters, tables, and interior panel similar to what you would see on a high end house remodel. Nice new color coordinated pillows and comfortable comforter blanket are included. All new pots/pans, cooking utensils and accessories, cleaning supplies ect are included. (The van has every thing you need to go on a road trip already included.) The van also comes with a rare set of high quality German made dishes, cups, bowls. The dishes, bowls, cups ect were bought while on vacation in Germany and are matched to the paint color of the van. ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION- This bus has only 152,000 original miles. Rebuilt motor and transmission with less that 5000 miles with paperwork. 2 liter fuel injected motor that runs perfect with plenty of power. The 79 fuel injected hydraulic valve motor is considered the best of all air cooled Volkswagens. Mechanically every thing has been gone through on this van. New fuel filter, repacked wheel bearings, plugs, cap rotor, fresh oil change, new clutch pressure plate, throw out bearing, all new fuel and vac lines. New muffler, cold start regulator, new engine seal, Optima battery. (Bus runs, drives, shifts, stops perfect.) The van needs nothing and can drive any where in the country in comfort, safety, and reliability. OTHER- New tires and alignment, all new paint on wheels and bumpers. All front end bushing, ect. were replaced as needed. Front and rear floor boards are in excellent condition with no rust and there original paint. The bus still has its factory under coating, Under carriage is dry and spotless clean. The hard to find factory window screens are in mint condition. Custom professionally made wrap around awning at a cost of $1500. The awning is a one piece awning that also covers the back side of the van. The awning comes with a custom made weather proof bag that fits perfect in the pop top luggage compartment. Deep cycle marine auxiliary battery with a isolator that runs the fridge and interior camping lights. New Optima main battery. Original jack, manuals, newer brakes front and rear. I built this van to keep, but other projects have forced me to consider selling. This is not your average Riviera. This bus is in mint museum quality. The van started out as a very nice van before the restoration. This is as close as you can get to a brand new 79 VW Camper as you can get. The original owners took amazing care of this van. The van has only been driven sparingly since the restoration. This bus has always been garaged. Interior is in amazing shape and in mint condition. This bus is a time capsule that you just don't see every day, NO RUST, no wrecks in over 30 years! 1979 was the last year of air cooled bay windows. 2 liter fuel injected motor. 1978-79 buses came with the 2 liter hydraulic motor and are considered the most sought after, due to there power, modern fuel injection, and economical gas mileage. This is one of the finest bay window campers on the market and one best in the country, a phenomenal investment. Thousands of dollars and hundreds of man hours have been invested in this van to bring it to show quality. This van would be the perfect center piece for any VW collection or a great daily driver.
