Vehicle Detail

The Ferrari Testarossa needs no introduction to Ferrari enthusiasts. The TR is one of the ultimate classic Ferraris; they are among the world’s most historically significant and valuable cars. Testarossas were famous for their dominance in the international racing scene, as much as for their astronomical eight figured prices. As of today the majority of TR’s have been acquired by sophisticated collectors and are thus out of reach for most people, even Ferrari collectors. Consequently, high quality reconfigurations with Ferrari chassis and serial numbers, Ferrari engines, and alloy bodies in the original style and construction of the Testarossa have garnered the interest of car enthusiasts seeking the experience of owning and driving one of the worlds most important automobiles without the price tag or stress associated with enjoying such a valuable car. This particular car is an outstanding example. The aluminium body was constructed in the early 1980s, by Robert Falano. The “donor car” is a 330 GT 1966 with the matching numbers 7123. The motor and gearbox were restored by Angelo Paneri, owner and operator of Imported Motor Service, San Francisco. (Angelo is depicted in the photograph with Luigi Chinetti, and the world champion and TR driver Phil Hill). The motor is a 4 liter with 6 Webber 40DCN 17 carburetors from Ferrari 275 GTB 4. The gearbox is 5 speed, from a 365. The cylinder heads were rebuilt in Modena, by Ferrari workers “moonlighting after hours”. The car has a strong motor compression and a lot of power. The cylinder detail is as follows: #12 – 200 PSI, #11 – 205 PSI, #10 – 200 PSI, #9 -205 PSI, #8 -190 PSI, #7 – 205 PSI, #6 -205 PSI, #5 – 205 PSI, #4 – 210 PSI, #3 – 210 PSI, #2 – 205 PSI and #1 – 205 PSI. The differential and the brakes, were rebuilt by Gregory Jones in Florida. It has a beautiful alloy body, following the original style and construction of the first prototype as seen in picture. Recent service includes new distributor heads and wiring, a new clutch, pressure plate and shaved flywheel with new crown. The starter and solenoid are rebuilt and the carburetors have new needles and diaphragms. It is equipped with 4 Borrane RW3690, with Dulop 215 170 tires, a spare is RW 2924. The exhaust is handmade 2-1/2” diameter with 4 glass pack mufflers, which produce an extraordinary sound. It has a great tool set with same period tools and a copy of a “short” quick jack. One of the high points of this car is the beautiful patina of the custom leather upholstery, and Veglia instruments with Italian denomination. The motor has seen approximately 20,000 mi. The car has been used frequently and is very reliable.
