Vehicle Detail
I custom ordered the car from Galpin Aston Martin in Los Angeles, taking delivery in December, 2006. Antrim Blue custom color was offered by AM for many years, but not for 2007 -- but I preferred this classic AM color to the brighter blues being offered in 2007, so custom-ordered it. I also specified a bright-finish grille, 19" seven-spoke wheels and other options as noted above, including a "smokers kit" -- a molded glass ashtray and cigarette lighter. The car has NEVER been smoked in, but the salesman convinced me that this smokers kit would be a rare accessory, and thus sought after by AM collectors. The optional AM umbrella is a pretty cool accessory when strolling about a concours. The interior is Kestrel Tan leather (looks like a pumpkin color to me!) with yellow stitching on the seats and dash and some door trim. Remainder (some of door, headliner) is covered with Alcantara in a Caspian Blue. Carpeting is dark blue. The car's blue/"pumpkin" color combination is truly beautiful and has gotten many compliments. It's a gorgeous car! I have additionally had an auto interior shop cover parts of the dash in a matte blue fabric very similar (but not exactly identical) to the Alcantara -- I did this because the polished tan leather dash created considerable reflection/glare on the windshield when driving on a sunny day, which I considered potentially dangerous; the matte fabric has solved this problem. The look is very professional, as if installed at the factory. The car is currently in a body shop having an accumulation of small indignities/blemishes removed. I will update some of the photos with new ones when it is out of the shop, including photos that show the new dash matte areas. The sound system is excellent, with a 6CD changer -- but I rarely listen to it, because the car is so much fun to listen to when driven briskly -- which you will want to do as often as possible. This car has been serviced annually (more frequently than factory-specified intervals) at the Galpin dealership according to factory specifications. Last service was in December 2013 at 23,759 miles; next service is due at 33,000 miles. The car has never had any major (or even moderate) mechanical problems; my service manager has told me that this model is "quite robust" compared to many other AM models. I have all service records from day one, as well as all other paperwork that came with the car, including the purchase paperwork and original window sticker. New tires were installed in October, 2012 and now have about 2500 miles on them. In the eight years I've owned the car I've driven it regularly -- once a week or more if possible -- at an average of around 2500 miles/year. I've also taken it on one very pleasurable 3500 mile road trip. The car is a blast to drive -- instant, more-than-adequate power when needed, very quick and precise handling, always exciting but well controlled. It is truly a sports car, not a GT, and a great canyon-runner. However, since 2007, traffic conditions in Los Angeles have become more and more congested, to the point that it is only infrequently possible to let the car out and really run it with brio. That is one reason I'm selling it. But the main reason I'm selling it is that I now have five cars, three of which are two-seaters, and I need 1) fewer cars and 2) something that will accommodate grandkids. I've enjoyed the AM a great deal, am glad I bought it and experienced it in all regards, but it's time to let someone else enjoy the car and preserve it. The car has been garaged for most of its life, but I have recently been forced to park it on the street at times, which I don't like to do. I will welcome any inspection/test drive a serious prospective owner would like to make. I will provide the name and phone number of the AM service manager who is familiar with the car to any serious bidder. And of course I will answer any questions you may have about the car. I want to sell the car, but will prefer a private party who seems capable of maintaining and preserving the car in its current extremely good condition. The winning bidder must arrange for insurance and shipment, make a deposit to hold the car until the sale is completed. I will be happy to deliver the car to any buyer within 50 or so miles of West Hollywood, CA once the sale is completed. If you want to spoil yourself (or some special someone) for years to come, you'll not be disappointed in the joy of driving and owning this car! On Dec-08-14 at 19:37:07 PST, seller added the following information: P.S../NOTE: I have added two photos showing the custom blue matte fabric that covers a portion of the dash to eliminate reflective glare. I have also added two photos showing the driver's seat, one of which shows a few "stretch marks", which I will have my auto interior shop repair before delivery. I would like to add that the car has been detailed (including engine compartment) and waxed by a professional detailing shop every six months, more or less, during the life of the car. It is thus very clean and presentable inside and out.
