Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 1960 Comet. It is being offered as a project. The car runs and drives but the transmission slips at partial throttle in drive and overdrive. The transmission was purchased new from Monster Transmissions and has about 100 miles on it. It shifted erratically from the beginning. I loosened the TV cable to remedy the problem and then it began slipping. The engine is a Ford Windsor small block that has a 351W block that has been bored 0.030" with an Eagle rotating assembly that has a 3.75" stroke that produces 383 cubic inches. The compression ratio is around 10.5 to 1 which is too high for pump gas. It has Trick Flow Specialties High Port Heads, an Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake, a 750 cfm Edelbrock carburetor, and a Bullet roller cam with duration at 0.050" of 244 intake and 251 exhaust. The ignition is from an HEI distributor, the engine has shorty headers, and a CVF Racing Pulley system. The cooling is from a new aluminum radiator and electric fan. I have installed a new fuel tank and sender. The car has a TCI Mustang II style front suspension with a power rack and pinion. The rear suspension is a TCI Triangulated Four Link which was ordered with their 9 inch Ford housing with brackets installed. The rear end has a 3.50 gear with an open differential from Currie Enterprises. It has Ridetech coil-overs on all four corners. The car handles and rides very well. The wheels and tires are from a late model Mustang. The tires are Michelins size 215/65R17. The car has been painted at some point but it has been years. There are many cracks, chips, and flaws in the paint that are noticeable close up. The body was in great condition with two exceptions. The cowl vent allowed water to accumulate in the passenger side floor and it rusted through. This has been patched with a piece from a replacement panel as you can see in the photos. There were also tiny spots of rust through in the trunk on the passenger side of the trunk pan. It was patched with fiberglass mat and resin. The car needs door seals and window felts. The interior has new carpet, a TCI shifter, a Grant steering wheel, and a chrome Flaming River tilt column. I have spent over $17,000 on this car and do not want to take it any further. I have another project and could use the garage space. The starting price is low with no reserve as I hope you will bid generously. I have attempted to describe the vehicle's condition for the issues that are not evident in the photos. The car is being offered as is where is. Thanks for your interest.
