Vehicle Detail

Up for grabs is my 1928 Ford Model A Ratrod! First off, if you are looking for a car that you can just get in and drive anywhere, this is NOT it! I built this truck about 7 years ago and drove the heck out of it and pretty much wore out already worn out parts. It may be better described as a running project. It runs and drives and stops. I can get in it and drive it now but it doesn't do any of these well. When I originally built it, over the course of about 4 years, I was on a shoestring budget and just worked with what I could get from bartering and friends who would just give me leftover parts from projects they didn't want. I'm not going to B.S. anyone on this thing, it's loud and not very fast, and rattles, but what it does do VERY well is draw a crowd! I'm 5'11" and about 160lbs and it's a tight fit for me. Chopping and channeling a 28 / 29 Model A Pickup with 3 pedals was a big challenge, but once I started mocking it up and seeing it take shape, I just couldn't give up on it. The major goal at the time was just to see how low I could get it. Comfort wasn't high on my priority list. Like I said though, this truck always draws a crowd so maybe it's better suited as a promotional tool in front of a store or a lot or something? I am at a point in my life where my tastes have changed and comfort has moved up on the priority list and I have since built more "traditional" cars and have lost interest in this truck. I have thought about redoing it to work out some of the issues with it, but my drive to work on it just isn't there anymore for me. I have other cars I want to finish and now my daughter needs braces so the time has come to let go. I'm hoping someone will see this and get that spark that I once had with it, and want to invest the time into making this thing great! The truck was featured in Hot Rod Deluxe back in 2008. I think it was the first and last "Rat Rod" in the magazine lol. When the pics were taken and the article was written, I had just finished and trailered it 100 miles to the car show where the photos were done so the truck got a reputation of being a "trailer queen" and I spent probably the next 3 years driving the crap out of it to try and loose that reputation, but I now realize it doesn't really matter. I had my fun, now I have other cars that I enjoy more. It's also due to come out in a documentary titled "Rats and Gassers" by D.A. Sabbastian. I also won a feature in a Canadian Hot Rod Magazine so that's due to come out sometime here and it's in the works to possibly be in another well known magazine in the near future. I have also received a ton of trophies with this truck. If you are interested in the truck, please feel free to contact me and I will be happy to discuss any issues on the truck I feel need to be addressed or any concerns or questions you may have and will answer them as honestly as possible. Like I said, I don't want to B.S. anyone! Beggars car club plaque does not come with the truck connecting rod bracket will stay. Truck is titled and registered in my name to the 28 washington plate. Thanks and good luck! Trevor (425) 754-5946 BODY 1928 Model A cab, chopped 8" through the doors and 6" through the windshield. Then I trimmed the header panel above the windshield to match the roof line. I welded on the visor. The bed is a Model T shortened 13". I took the section out between the wheel well and the back of the bed so that the wheel sits in the center of the bed. Cab in channeled 4" over the frame. Cab is rough, door bottoms are rusted out. It's a "Rat Rod" CHASSIS Stock Model A frame Z'd 18" in the rear. 1946 Ford P/U open drive rear end with 40 axle bells and spring. Driveshaft was cut down in the center and was never balanced so buyer might want to have a new one made or at the very least have it balanced. Front axle is stock Model A hung off the stock split wishbone and spring. 40 Juice brakes all the way around. 28/29 21" front wheels 33/34 17" rear wheels. Brakes were rebuilt with new shoes, wheel cylinders and seals. Drums were turned. pedals and master cylinder are from a 1954 ford car (single reservoir master cylinder). Tie rod and ends were also new. (at time of build approx. 7 years ago) King pins were new but have since gotten sloppy (need replaced) MOTOR/TRANS Engine is a 49 - 53 8BA with a merc crank that was pulled from a 51 Merc (internals and mileage unknown) Engine could use a good tune up, it's been sitting a lot the last few years. I made the the flame thrower set up out of an old chevy 6 cylinder distributer mounted up with a 12volt rv water pump motor and a couple pulleys to send the spark to the exhaust, just hit the switch and pull the choke to richen it up to make the flames. It actually works ok. In the video you can hear kind of a tinny rattle sound, that's the home made baffles I made rattling around. They need to be tacked in to place. Radiator, transmission and steering (extended shaft to go through the cowl) are from a 1953 F100. Trans is a 3 speed. Radiator is only about 2'' off the ground and I live on a gravel driveway so needless to say it's a little beat up on the bottom and could use a skid plate.
