For sale, 1978 Ford Bronco loaded Ranger XLT survivor from the Montana high desert, land of the sagebrush and prickly pear cactus. It's an honest, good running truck, use as is or restore this desirable dry western truck in a great color. These Broncos are extremely difficult to find in solid original condition, and this one is loaded with 400, automatic, A/C, cruise, tilt, intermittent wipers, etc. I'll do my best to describe it below: Exterior: Paint is original except tailgate, which has been repainted. Paint is worn thin in several spots (including hood on driver side), and the truck would need repaint to really shine. The great news is that it's dry and rust free. Will upload link to underside pics, there is just no rot underneath, and I know where to look. Floors, cab mounts, rockers, etc all look great. We don't see major rust or rot issues in this arid country- there's just no moisture. We only get 10 inches of total precipitation annually, and no salt is used on the roads. There is a bit of surface scale along bottom of both doors. Small dent behind driver side rear wheel (touchup paint there), and ding behind driver front wheel. Glass is good, except for small BB chip in one side window, not noticeable, windshield is new. Glass has aftermarket tint. Moldings in good condition except for one ding in racetrack over passenger rear wheel, and ding in upper molding at driver front fender. Grille surround has one small ding, grille in good condition. Has some holes from original small mirrors that have rubber plugs from when the west coast mirrors were installed. Overall a solid truck and ready to use as is. See pics. Interior: Original and presentable for a driver as is. Driver seat has a few tears, carpet is faded but not torn up. Headliner is nice. Dash pad has a few thin cracks. Passenger door panel broken near speaker. Aftermarket stereo works well and as speakers in rear panels. Everything seems to work except rear glass doesn't roll up/down - you'll need to fix that. Gauges, heater, wipers, and all lights appear to work, A/C components are all there and functioning but doesn't blow super cold. Haven't tried cruise control. Tilt steering column is broken from previous owner pulling himself into truck. I have access to a good used tilt/cruise column out of another 78 Bronco, I will offer that to winning bidder for an additional $250. Or you can use as is, and restore later if you want. Mechanical: Starts, runs, drives and stops well. Motor sounds good and pulls strong, no noticeable noises, smoke, or leaks. 4x4 works fine. Truck is tight with few squeaks or rattles. Oil pressure is good, and I've put a some miles on and from what I can tell it's ready to use and enjoy. Tires have good tread, and I don't notice any shake or shimmy, runs out smooth. Truck is bone stock save for dual exhaust and carb has been upgraded to a new Holley. Not a mint low mile cream puff, but a solid honest truck you can drive while you restore. Pricing/Misc: I got a good deal on this rig and you will too. This era Bronco is tough to find, especially rust free and in the best factory colors of that year (red/white). These trucks book a ton, and one in very similar condition and mileage just sold right here on Ebay by a specialty dealer for $11.5k out of Ohio - and the dealer bought it out here near me. A much more realistic reserve is set well under $5k for quick sale on this truck. Transport is readily available and probably cheaper than fixing rust on a Midwest or East Coast truck. Title is clear with no lien and signed off by previous owner, ready for you to fill your name in as purchaser. GOOD LUCK! Keep in mind that with all cars and trucks, THEY LOOK BETTER IN PICTURES THAN IN PERSON. Truck is very functional, but it wouldn't be practical to expect to fly in and drive it home. While taking pics I noticed that plastic splash guards are missing from driver side, I went to the local pick-a-part and got a nice front one and it will be included at no additional cost. Didn't find any rear one but they are available from aftermarket sources and are inexpensive. Also, there is a 1-inch tear in the steering wheel leather grip and the key doesn't work well in the passenger side door lock. Key works fine in ignition and driver lock, but takes some wiggling to open passenger side door. Will try lubing lock.
