The frame, engine and title numbers all match. The bike appears to have been completely chromed back in the sixties and left out to rust some for some time in the seventies. The last NJ registration sticker on the bike is from 1976. I bought it from a friend who had stored in for a number of years with the intention of restoring it, but I have too many other projects and no time. The bike rolls freely, the front and rear brakes work. The motor was stuck, so I pulled the heads and got the engine to turn over with a little Marvel Mystery and some heat from a propane torch.I took the oil pan off and the crank and the inside of the engine appear to have been undamaged with no signs of water penetration. Now the engine spins easily with the kickstarter. It appears that the gearbox is also undamaged. The motor was chromed, but most of the chrome has flaked off. The bike has a serious case of rust. The fuel tank has rusted through on the bottom. Although the metal used for the fenders is substantial, they are pitted. My plan was to sandblast them, fill the holes and repaint. The frame is also rusted, but it was not chromed, so the original BMW paint protected it for the most part. Someone drilled the downtubes, probably for a set of highway pegs. The rims and the spokes are straight, but a mess, I planned to just replace them. One of the carb bodies has a crack in it. The tires still hold air. The bike is being sold "as is" and "where is". I will help with loading the bike onto your truck or trailer. I have the bike at work and it can be inspected there, should you wish.
