Vehicle Detail

If you’re reading this listing, you already know that Morgans are considered to be the quintessential British sports cars and that they are hand-made in Malvern, England, in the same wonderful way since 1936. They are still being built, but are no longer imported to the U.S. This car is a 1965 4/4 Series V “Competition” model. It was made in 1964 and first registered in 1965. It has, unlike the standard version of the car, a high compression cylinder head, a high lift camshaft, a twin choke Weber carburetor replacing the single Stromberg 33VN, and a compression ratio of 9.0:1 instead of 8.3:1. As a result, it produces 83 hp rather than 65. The car has a special, optional, “push-pull” shifting mechanism. Though produced by the factory from 1963 to 1968, only 270 “Competition” models were made. This car is rare, special, and a blast to drive. Notwithstanding her racing heritage, the car is a pleasure to drive daily and in traffic. I have driven her several times per week in the past several months, and she has never failed me. Expect a great deal of inquisitive and admiring attention! I received a large volume of documentation when I bought the car and it, of course, will go to the new owner. It documents a comprehensive rebuild of just about everything - engine, clutch, gearbox, hydraulics, brakes, etc. The oil pressure is spot on at 35-40 lbs and she does not overheat. The brakes were rebuilt by White Post. The seat back is new, and was ordered at a cost of $1200 from the factory in England. The original seat back goes with the car. The wire wheels are new and the fresh Vredestein tires from Coker have less than 1000 miles on them. The five original wheels and tires are included. All the gauges, lights, and accessories (horn, windshield wipers, etc.) work properly. She has a proper bonnet belt, stone guards on the headlights, bonnet prop rods (so you don’t have to use broomsticks!), a gear reduction starter (she consistently starts on the first crank), rubber bonnet corners (to prevent paint chipping), custom etched wind wings which say, “1965 4/4 Series V “Competition”,” a custom-made tool bag, a spin-on oil filter adapter (which makes changing the oil so much easier), and a coolant recovery system. I believe the tonneau and top to be original and made of an “Ever-Flex” material. They are supple and fit and work well. The side curtains are excellent but for one crack in the plexiglass. The paint is less than perfect, but good for a driver. The body and frame have been inspected and were found to be rot and rust-free. Please find a number of underside photos included in the listing. I recently purchased a “chassis record,” or build sheet from Malvern. (Please see photo). That, too, will be given to the new owner. Thank you very much for your interest and for viewing my listing. The car is in Georgia which does not offer titles to cars this old. The car will be sold with a clean bill of sale. I encourage inspections and invite questions.
