Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on the most valuable car brand from the 1960’s & 70’s. A Plymouth. I am lucky enough to live in the Norfolk, VA area where the Fantomworks TV show on the Velocity channel is filmed. Dan Short the owner told me that this car fully restored is worth between $75,000 and $100,000. You don’t see a 2nd generation Plymouth Barracuda at the classic car shows. And if you do it is not a convertible with matching numbers. This car appears to be all original except for the trunk lid and we did replace the rear quarter panels. The interior looks almost as good as it did when it came out of the factory 48 years ago. The engine is a 273 cubic inch Commando with a 4 barrel carburetor. The engine roars like a muscle car should and it does not smoke at all. It runs well and the 3 speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly. What is very interesting and rare about this car is the automatic transmission is on the floor instead of the column. The rear freeze plug on the left side of the engine needs replacing. Someone tried to plug it but it needs to be replaced. The top does have a tear in it and needs repair or replacement. The power top works well. What this car needs is frame work. The exterior work on the body has been completed. It is a straight car. The doors and the hood open and close without sticking or jamming. This car was a show car in 2003 but it is obvious she has been neglected for years. I rescued it over a year ago and it has been in a dry garage since. I was told by the previous owner that this car was driven every day before he bought it last year. It is obvious that this car has not been driven on the road for years. I used to drive her once a week by taking it around the block a couple times. But we took the motor out to do the body work and it does not make sense to hook it back up before the frame work is completed. I will be completely honest with you on any question you have on this car. Not like the seller who I bought it from. He cropped the pictures to hide the rust and the damage to the top and body. He did not tell the truth on questions I asked him about the car. He knew I was looking for a car I could drive while the car was restored slowly. This is not that kind of car. Please only bid on this car if you fit in one of following categories. 1. You have the financial resources and/or the expertise to restore this beautiful car to her past glory. 2. You have an indoor place to store her while she appreciates in value until you can restore her. 3. I don’t want option 3 as I have become attached to her. You want to part her out. This car is so rare. Only 4224 Plymouth Barracuda Convertibles were built in 1967. How many are left? And where can you find the parts for one? Thank you for taking the time to read about this rare classic. I will answer any question you have honestly.
