Vehicle Detail
Here's a beautiful example of the last of the 308s, with the injected four valve engine. The next year (1986) saw the introduction of the 348, which lacked a lot of the classic style and grace... for example the gorgeous round switches in the console were replaced with boring rockers and the fantastic shrouded inside door latches were also made more modern, and sadly, lost a lot of their charm. This car is excellent, and just a blast to drive. We specialize in British cars but I also love anything interesting and fun, and I bought a small collection (from a friend) which included this car. I fell in love with it! As an outsider I never really cared for 308s having grown up with much more exotic older models. But to drive this car and get close to it changes everything. This is a car that gets under your skin once you sit in it and fire it up. See my video below if you want to hear the awesome exhaust note, and also to hear me rave about it. I am much more familiar with the British car marketplace, but it sure seems to me that this car will appreciate to become a $100k car. Of course, hard to know when, but when you consider the prices of all the other older Ferraris continue to climb aggressively, 308s will be pulled up with them. To take full advantage, I would recommend the last year with low miles and a well documented maintenance history, like this car. If you want a piece of the mystique, this is a great candidate for a great price. Ferraris have been an amazing asset class and an exceptional place to park your money. I can't keep this one as we need space in our shop for new cars on the way. The car is equipped with a Blaupunkt Aspen cassette player, A/C and excellent leather. The engine bay is excellent, the trunk is excellent. New Battery. Washer bottle is missing, was removed to access the battery for charging by the prior owner, and he could not yet locate it. Still looking. Tools and manual also missing, will ask prior owner. I do have the original window sticker, and all the service records, including receipts for a major 15,000 mile service done at Carriage House Motors in Greenwich CT in 2000 and major belt and water pump service done at Radcliff in PA in 2010, less than 1000 miles ago. Compression checked at Carriage House (at about 20k miles, about 2k miles ago) and documented as excellent. Tires are from 2000 and should be replaced, plenty of tread, just starting to see some cracking. Rear defroster switch looks fine but detent seems broken. The Interior is excellent. Targa top and headliner are excellent. Dashboard is excellent. Paint is great, the nose was repainted at some point and the prep unfortunately left some very fine sanding scratches you can just see under the paint in the right light at the right angle. This cannot be captured in photos, it's that subtle. I am guessing there was a parking lot ding on the nose that was repaired because the metal is all straight and solid and there is no evidence of anything more significant than a minor cosmetic repair. If it bothers you, sand and reshoot the nose to correct this, but I would leave it as is. The car looks great. Check out the huge photo album I have posted on our Bugeyeguy website to see more of this awesome ride. As with any classic car, this car is sold as is, with no warranty or guarantee of any kind.
