This 1951 Gmc 5 window pick up truck is a extremly RARE find with a great History. This truck, I was told is a one owner truck. The previous owner was a local plumber who bought this truck brand new and used it locally on jobs and to drive around town. About ten years ago, he passed away and left it to his son. He had it stored for a while and started to restore the truck. He had it painted in a stage one paint that really looks great. He started to restore the truck mechanically ( a new fuel pump put on the truck, new points, plugs, and condesnor, rotor and cap, cleaned the carb, etc) He recently got a new job where he has to move out of state and he contacted me to buy it as he knows that I collect classic trucks and that I would appreciate the history behind it. I brought the truck home, put a charged 6 volt battery in and it fired right up. I am running the truck for the video etc off of the original tank but it should be cleaned out for everyday use. The truck is still a 6 volt system. The headlights are working. I was very impressed by how nice this truck drove down the road. I had it up to 50 mph and it handled great in my opinion and the four speed trans/clutch shifted the way it should. The front left brake is not working but the other three are and stop the truck like it should. Cosmetically, the truck looks very nice and shows extremly well. There were some common for the age blemishes here and there (all pictured) but nothing too crazy or overly noticable. The wood in the bed is the original wood. The underside of the truck looks very nice and solid in my opinion. The tires hold air but are weather checked some. The interior dash and doors are original paint and really great, shows very well. The headliner is original and looks very good. The floor looks good and mostly solid but there was some minor rust along the top left edge of driver side, etc ,all pictured) but nothing to concerning in my opinion. The glass is all there but there was some cracks here and there, all pictured. The doors open and shut good but the exterior handles could be adjusted. The windows go up and down. The seat is original and slides back and forth but could be reupholstered, definitely usable as is. This truck has the original owners manual in the glove box along with the plumbers old manuals, small tools, and notes from back in the day, really cool! It has the original oil change stickers in the door jams and some of the plumbers clips/notes on the sun visor which really add to the history of the truck. When we were doing the video, we had quite a few people stop us and ask us about the truck and take pics next to it, we even had one couple who remembered the plumber driving this truck around town on various jobs and errands. This truck comes with a clean and clear title with numbers matching ready to go. I am setting the reserve well below the market value to ensure a sale, only bid if you are serious about buying it. I do not want to overcall this truck or undercall it, let the pictures and video tell the story. Understand that this not a number one restored truck even though it shows like one, This is will be a great truck to use as a daily driver, car show truck, or car cruise cruiser while tinkering with it.
