Vehicle Detail
I'm reluctantly parting with my 1980 Ford F-150, with the legendary Straight 6 engine -- arguably the most bulletproof in Ford history, basically impossible to kill. it has 'four on the floor', and has 62,700 original miles. It's white with bright blue vinyl interior (see pics attached). Both the paint and the interior are completely original. I've included a detailed list of photos below for your consideration. Technically I'm the 3rd owner, but essentially the 2nd -- please read on below. It was owned by a family in Putnum County, NY for approx the first 29 years and 60,000 miles of its life. It was then found by a gentlemen in update NY. He works at his local DMV, and is a self-described "motorhead fanatic". For 24 straight years he had located an American car or truck he loved, done a comprehensive updating of said vehicle, then sold it 12 months later. This was his 24th. For his 25th and final year, he had found the Pontiac GTO he drove in high school -- not the same model.... the actual vehicle itself -- by tracking the buyers it had seen since via phone from person to person -- and was going to do the same style renovation as his own retirement gift. If you haven't gathered, this guy is amazing. Sorry, back to the F-150. I happened upon the listing on Bronco Graveyard the day he put it up, and was his first call. As i listened, I was sold in minutes and agreed to buy it. That night he sent me the following email: Under side starting in the front, new front axle u joints, and hubs and rotors , calipers, and bearings, every steel brake line is new, and every rubber brake line is new, all new drive shaft u-joints, new e-brake cables, new rear drums, hold down kits, wheel cylinders, even new original riveted shoes, spring kits, new yukon 31 spline rear axles, new 3:50 posi Ford Motorsport rear chunk, new 5 leaf springs, spring hangers, bushings, grade 3 bolts, new spare, spare hardware. On top, new radiator, belts, hoses, megaton battery and battery box, new EGR check valve, gaskets, carb rebuilt, plugs cap and rotor, wires, custom autosound digital radio, new wing window frames and gasketing, new 1/4 rubber bed mat and a very unique diamond plated tool box. It is in the original wheels and hubcaps. Although this may not sound special by today's standards, the options were, AM/FM, power steering (many weren't), power disc brakes (many weren't), stock sliding rear window, cab lights, one of the most important, it being a short box, many were only F100's this is a F150 which is rare. The grab bars on the cab are stock original ford, so are the hold downs on the box, stock chrome step bumper. I brought this truck home, like I said from the original owner and he is in his late 80's early 90's. The 4 wheel drive works like new. When it came into my garage....I began work and if I have driven a total of 100 miles that would be a lot. You could flip this truck over and literally eat off the bottom of it. The list goes on and on.... I have all the records & purchase orders of this stuff. It's important to point out that despite all the work he did, he's religious about not touching the exterior -- no paint work at all, no non-matching tires, no interior changes either. The only thing he did was to have a custom radio built that looks exactly like the original, but in fact is a digital radio, including an MP3 player hook-up. so, the truck is not "mint" -- it has a nice patina for its age both inside and out, based on the TLC those of us who have owned it have provided. He just cleaned out everything mechanical and kept it completely original. As noted above, it came from the factory loaded, including: 4WDpower steeringpower disc brakessliding rear windowcab lightstie downs grab barsZiebart protectantSince I bought it, it's lived in my garage and been driven about once a month. It's never seen rain or snow in my tenure. Everything works -- all lights, brights, wipers, blinkers, radio, heat, etc. Again, the paint is original, and in pretty incredible condition for its age. Yes, it had little cracks and blemishes here and there -- some have have been addressed by dots of white touch up paint (though this was all done before I purchased the vehicle), others have just been left alone. The body has no noticable dings or bumps anywhere. The interior is in amazing condition. As you can see, the driver seat is a bit warn from time, but not broken down... still very comfortable. Other than a little cracking around the speaker holes, the dash is intact and beautiful. The control panels are all perfect. All the gauges work. It drives absolutely perfectly, like it just rolled of the assembly line. I haven't modified anything, and it hasn't needed any repairs. There are some very light areas of surface rust, which I've taken pictures of. These are not new, and haven't advanced -- I'm careful to avoid moisture and keep the car in the garage every hour of the year but a few, so they've not changed much. I'm choosing to allow the buyer to decide if, how and how much you wish to address them. CONDITIONS OF PURCHASE: Buy It Now purchased must be paid for immediately. Auction winner must complete down payment via PayPal (only) within 24 hours or I reserve the right to relist the truck, or provide a Second Chance offer to another bidder. The balance will be due via Cashier's Check upon pick-up of the vehicle. The truck will need to be picked up within one (1) week of end of auction locally in Rhode Island -- whether by you or a shipping truck. If you purchase the vehicle -- whether by BIN or auction -- I will supply a $200 discount on final price should you be able to pick it up on Saturday, October 25th. Please see my 100% positive feedback as a seller, including previous sale of my last classic car (a vintage Porsche), and bid with confidence.
