Vehicle Detail
I have for sale a true barn find in every sense of the word 1969 Dodge Polara 4 door with 68k original miles. I'm going to call it a 1 owner because honestly it's not even in my name yet. It is equipped with the 318 motor, power steering, and a power brake booster. I purchased a fully furnished house in which a lady had passed away over 10 years ago and the family was from out of state. After she passed the family literally had an alarm system installed in the house and left it set for 10 years. Last year the grandchildren got their hands on the house and decided it was time to sell. I purchased the house and all it's contents which included this gem. She was the first owner who bought the car new from Shimkat Motors in Fort Dodge and it spent its entire life here. The original title from1969 was even in the glovebox which I included a picture of. When purchased the car it had last been licensed in 2000 and hadn't seen the road since before then so I expected the worst. I towed it back to our shop, threw a new battery ($135) in it and it fired right up and ran. She ran a little rough so we pulled the fuel line off and put it in a fresh tank of gas and it ran and idled perfect. In the words of our mechanic "it runs and idles better than they did new". We pulled tank off, cleaned it, sealed it, and installed a new fuel sending unit because the other one had been sitting with old gas so long and now she runs like a champ. Also replaced was the master brake cylinder. The body of the car is overall in very good condition. There is some rust on the back side of each front fender and a little at the very bottom of the back fenders but other than that it is great. It does have normal nicks and scratches that all original cars this old do. Floors, trunk, doors, Jams, all look great. The vinyl top doesn't have any tears or imperfections other than possibly being a little less white than it once was. The glass is all perfect. Other than a small seam coming undone on the drivers seat and a small crack in the dash the interior is unbelievable. The door panels, headliner, Backseat, even the original carpet look a new (I know unbelievable). I have the original owners manual as well. All lights, signals, brights, interior lights, and horn are in perfect working order. After sitting for 10 years the front whitewall tires and rear studded snow tires a till had air and are in surprisingly good condition. I have another set of whitewalls pictured that can go with the car if the buyer wants them. With a small amount of work this car could be restored back to its original glory. Don't miss your chance to own a rare 1 owner original car. I'm sure I am forgetting something but feel free to call or text anytime. I included the maximum number of pictures allowed in order to give the best representation of the car possible. My name is Ben and my number is 515-571-7220. Thanks and happy bidding. On Sep-18-14 at 06:31:11 PDT, seller added the following information: A couple things I missed. The plastic kick panels and panels in between the doors are slightly discolored from the original. Also since we replaced the sending unit the gas gauge is off and on. Guessing a loose ground so should have that fixed before selling. The electric fan in the trunk for the back window works perfectly which is rare. I have a coupe vids of the car running down the highway with the odometer working as well as a close up of the engine idling and revving if you are interested I would be happy to text them to you. Please be sure and ask any questions you may have or for any other pics you would like. Thanks Ben On Sep-19-14 at 09:37:17 PDT, seller added the following information: I read through my description again and thought that I would clarify that by the back of the front fenders I meant rear. I will include a pic of what both fort fenders look like as well as what the rear ones look like as well. I also included a pic of the new master cylinder that was installed because the old one had a slight leak. I am probably beating a dead horse but I want whoever purchases this car to be 110% sure of what it is, which is a 45 year old car. It has nicks and scratches. I have been driving this car every day and will continue to drive it until it is sold. I have had a ton of interest in this car and it is going to make someone very happy.
