Vehicle Detail

1966 Mustang Fastback - 289cid, 2 barrel carb auto transmission. We purchased this car in 1983 and drove for less than a month on temp plates. The car was then garaged because it needed floors. The car has remained garaged since then and some work was started but this car needs total restoration. Floors were welded in and some body work was started but really have no time and now have lost my storage garage and the car is outside. A few extra parts go with the car and there are some interior parts missing. New carpet in box. Motor will turn over but it won't start. Again a great restoration project. Car will need to be trailered by buyer. I will not ship. If you want it shipped you'll have to arrange. Please contact me with any questions or if additional photos are needed. Thanks and happy bidding! On Aug-25-14 at 12:02:20 PDT, seller added the following information: Year: 6 1966 Plant: F Dearborn, MI Body Series: 09 2+2 Fastback Engine: C 289 2v V8 Unit: 188632 188632 Miscellaneous Vehicle DataBody: 63A 2+2 Fastback, Standard Interior Color: 5 Signalflare Red Trim: 26 Black Crinkle Vinyl and Black Rosette Vinyl, Standard Interior Date: 07M December 07, 1965 D.S.O: 64 New Orleans Axle: 6 2.80:1, Conventional Trans: 6 C4 Automatic On Aug-27-14 at 05:27:07 PDT, seller added the following information: I shot a video of the undercarriage which you can access here: http://youtu.be/otaFJyT9qvU As you can see from the video, frame rails and rear torque boxes are decent. Again new floors were welded in back in 1983. The very right rear section of frame rail under the trunk has some rot and should be replaced or repaired. On Aug-29-14 at 11:37:04 PDT, seller added the following information: Okay for those of you asking about matching numbers...basically what I've learned in the past 3 days is that there is no such thing. I pulled the starter out of this mustang today and the block cast number is C5AE-6015E. From what I gather that is a cast number on many mustangs with 289 motor from 64 on up until the 289 was replaced. As far as a date code as described even in eBay's section of decoding numbers, there wasn't one. Just this number above. Now I've read on many forums that they didn't cast any date codes in the 60's because the blocks were cast at only certain times of the year and it would be impossible to date. I did read the best date to find is stamped in the left head during assembly of the motor and that seemed to make the most sense. Unfortunately I didn't see one or can't get to it because of stuff blocking that area. So there you have it. In my opinion based on what I've read about the cast number above it's original for the car.On Aug-29-14 at 11:52:10 PDT, seller added the following information: http://www.mustangtek.com/block/C5AE-6015-E.htmlOn Aug-29-14 at 11:54:44 PDT, seller added the following information: The above link is for informational purposes only.....
