Vehicle Detail

I took this motorcycle on trade for services rendered. My friend had bought a BMW motorcycle and this was in his partially covered carport for 12 years. He said the bike ran great 12 years ago, but there was oil seeping from the bottom cylinder gasket that would always get on his pants, so he took the cylinders off, replaced the gaskets, and put it back together. When he rode it, he said it ran fine but had little acceleration, and realized the timing was180° out. Not looking forward to the job again, it became one of those I will get to it later projects, and went out and bought a BMW bike. He said he lost interest, leaving it stored in his carport. I took it on trade, had the title transferred to my name, thinking I would do the job, and then I lost interest. I'm letting it go now. From everything I can see, it looks like it is all there. There was some gas in the tank that has gone bad, and I'm sure the tank will need to be cleaned and coated, at the least. The tank has rust with paint loss on top, but the sides look good, and I can't find any dents. It still seems like it is solid though. He said he emptied the carbs before he stored it. It looks like the pet cock is closed, and the carburetors were isolated away from the gas tank, but I have not touched them or opened them to see. The tops are off of the carbs and in a separate parts container. Comes with Suzuki fairing and luggage carrier. Headlight located in fairing. My gut feeling is that this bike would probably run, but will need a lot of TLC. Exhaust pipes do not seem to be rusted out, and there are a lot of good parts here if someone just wanted a parts bike. It is being sold as is, and I will give you a bill of sale, and sign the title over to you, with the Clymer shop manual and the key. The tires hold air, and are in pretty fair shape for 12 years old. I operated the kick start and the motor turns over easily and you can feel some compression. The gear shift lever works and seems to go through the gears. The clutch lever works very smooth and with normal resistance. Located near Hartsville, SC for local pickup. Serious inquires only can call Mike at 404-641-4589. I am going to let the auction run, so no lowball offers to kill the auction, please.
