Vehicle Detail
This is the find!!!! Super rare edition! REAL NAPCO !!! You've seen 1955-59 pickups, you've seen fewer 55-59 GMC trucks, but not to often to you seen a 1957 GMC Napco in all the CHROME and beauty this truck has. Oh and you can drive it... Why go to a car show and have a truck just a little different then the other guys, be the talk of the show, the town, etc... This is a real 1957 GMC 100 Napco 4X4 Big Back window Deluxe Cab!!! Yes this is the real deal and it is all there and correct... Runs and drives. This is not a Chevy it is all GMC. This truck is super rare even in a 2-wheel drive edition to find complete and anywhere near this condition is near impossable. This is a Dealer installed Napco truck, ( all GM truck perior to 1960 where converted to 4 wheel drive by Napco for GM ) and you are looking at something super rare. This truck was the Best of the Best of its day, basically it would of been 3x more a standard Chevy. This is a nice restoration but not a concourse truck. We didn't paint it the factory Orange which would of been Omaha Orange, we updated to the 2007 Corvette Atomic Orange. Not every little thing is prefect but it is nice. It is a WOW factor truck and a nice driver quality truck, not a Barrett Jackson show shopper, but a star in it own right. For a full blow restoration you are looking at $75,000+ and up so keep that in mind. If you want that, here is the best start you can get. These trucks are the gems in most big collections, Tim Allen, Jesse James, and of course Jay Leno as well as several other big name collector all have these as parts of their elite collections. And now you can have one and just drive it a around to home depot. ;-) The truck has been gone through, pretty much new everything. THIS HAS THE CORRECT PARTS for the GMC and the Napco editions!!! The right, one year only hood, one year only grill, bumpers and light bar/upper mustache! All impossible to find. GMC parts like the hoods, fenders, grills, bumpers and light bars are not reproduced, so nope you can't call up classic parts and say I want a GMC hood... These are all in great shape. So this is a SUPER RARE and VERY DESIRABLE truck with a lot of love put into it to make it right. So no LMC junk sheet metal parts on this truck. ;-) History that I was told of this truck. This truck was hiding in a shop for about 20 years, she was as a retired show truck according the family (everyone idea of a show truck is different, but it was nice)... 20 Years ago it was backed off a trailer with the door open and that door was caved in. The owner passed away shortly after the mishap and the truck sat in a shop for the next 20 years with a dent in the bottom of the door... Now a year later we are completing her and putting her back on the road with a new door and a lot more. We torn it down and started the rebuild. Upon tearing it down we replaced the door, all the old body work was blasted out and striped to metal and we started from there. We fix what little rust there was in the truck... We then sealed the truck in rust preventative primer, then primer, sealer primer, then a white base and 3 coats of 2007 corvette atomic orange and cleared it. It is a good paint job, not a $15,000 job but nice. I spent a lot of money on this but I don't have Jay Leno's budget. ( yes he has one too ) she is nice but not a $100,000 restoration. We repainted the frame black which was in good shape from the last restore. So I am hoping I am setting the correct tone for the truck... nice but a driver that has not been driven much. The mechanics of the truck. She runs and drives like she should... here are the details and what we did. The motor was rebuilt with less the 1000 miles on it 20 years ago was the story we got... That seems to be true. It is a 1964 Corvette 327 engine. We opened it up, drained everything, flushed it all before we tried to start it. We added some new seals. We installed a brand new alt, starter, wires, plugs, Edlebrock 650 electric carb and a full tune up. New value covers and K&N filter. New battery, battery cables, and coil. Basically we replace everything but the block. We painted the block, refilled everything and she fired right up and she never missed a beat. I am running brake in oil in her right now as the motor looked that new, but her next change you can go back to whatever you want. Absolutely no leaks in the motor before or after we refreshed her. Nice 327 motor with headers. We added a new Aluminum 3 core radiator and all new belts and hoses thermostat and she runs at a prefect 160-180 degrees even with the 90+ degree heat we have been having. She has sat in the shop running for 45 minutes and never got above 183. Fuel System is all new, new tank, lines, etc. New Brake System, new master, lines, shoes and cylinders. Complete redo. Basically took it all apart and replaced everything on the truck. Spent thousand at Napa and speciality parts stores. Yes you can get 955 of the parts for this truck at Napa. The only leak there is, is in the front diff and I think it will seal up once it is driven more. I have had a few Napco trucks and original fronts diffs all had leak from the front yoke. We added new fluids to everything and it should seal up once the seals swell a bit, we over filled it a bit to let it seep and it seems to be working. If not it is a pretty easy and cheap fix if you choose to do so. I personally wouldn't bother with it as it is not that bad. Transmission was opened cleaned, drained and refilled. It looks like it has very low miles on it. The transfer case was the same. As was the rear diff. So everything has been opened, cleaned, refilled to spec, it all looked good and works as it should. All the lights works and is street legal. ;-) Driving her around a bit and it all works. She does run and drive like she should. She is an old truck with the original 4x4 running gear. ;-) super fun to drive. Everyone love her and everyone will ask you about her. These trucks are cool because everyone love them and the 4x4 make her way cooler as not everyone has one. You see 55-59 chevy and GMC trucks around from time to time but not like this. I mean its a Napco and it is a GMC. Look at the chrome! The body. There is no rust in the truck as noted above. We fixed what little we found other then that she had a little surface rust here and there. All the parts we replace we used original parts hard to find parts, no LMC panels. Replaced the hinges bushing and rebuilt the guts of the doors. The window is a little sticky but again just needs to be worked more. Redid all the rubber in the truck, all but the wing windows, which where/are good. We stripped the truck and repainted her. The paint is new and nothing special other then the color, no ghost flames or shadowing for effect. No shaved handles etc... I think she was originally Ohama Orange, so with the Corvette motor we went with the updated Corvette Orange. Plus I really like that color. The inside We added new leather seats out of 2007 chevy, a carpet kit and few other things that are easy to remove if you choose. I have the original seat and it will be included in the sale if you want it. The dash is pretty much uncut. There is a radio in it but I have hooked it up as I was going to drop a wonder bar in it, just never did. But this fills the factory hole, it was a little trimmed but not bad. The fan works, and the wipers work. Dash is good. Speedo, measures speed but is off. I use an app on my phone. Fuel gauge works, most of the time. The old systems are a little temperamental. Just keep her full is the best bet and she is not a Prius... matter of fact she looks at them like crazy space cars. lol Wheels She has real Boyd aluminum wheels and 33" tires with close to new tread on them. She steers good, all the steering is tight and gone through. Power steering wasn't an option and it has not been added but I (you) can turn the wheels even at a dead stop. We added a new wood steering wheel. We added turn signals and wired them all in so the work like the should, you have parking lights and turn signals... You can rewire it back to stock if you want to and just have parking lights. We added LED lights to the rear of the truck and rewired it so it works like it should, basically you can step on the brake now and have turn signals where stock you would just have one or the other... Again easy to change back if you want the old style. They look like the old style lights but are just brighter, work right and are a lot safer. You get a lot of people looking at this truck and not paying attention. Chrome is all the correct stuff. All correct for the year, super hard to do! Most guys that are restoring a GMC give up and just swap it over the chevy stuff, we didn't. This is all correct. This all super rare stuff, hard to find one year only stuff... Glass is all original, there is some fading in it at the edge but not bad or really noticable but wanted to note it was there. No chips or cracks. Just standard old glass. For $300 you can replace if you want but the aftermarket stuff isn't as good in my opinion. All the seals are new but the seal in the wing windows where still good so we left them. Actually all the seals where good but we pulled them when we repainted. She is a nice truck. You can't drive down the road with out tons of people wanting pictures and lots of thumbs ups. Really she is amazing cool. These trucks trashed are $10,000 to $12,000. I had to pay close to that when I started. Then I dumped a ton of time and money into her. I have too many toys sitting around in addition to 5 other projects I want to finish and have 1 more Napco truck (yes 6 more to complete) and a few on the garage... So it is time to make some room, get on the the others. I know I will kick myself once this truck sells, but can't store them all and don't have time to drive them all. Ladies and gentlemen lets start the bidding. As you can see I have 100% Feed back and most of what I have sold off are parts of my Snap on tool collection. We are happy to work with your shipper and have had great luck with shipping truck in the past. Tim Feel free to give me a call with questions and offers. ;-) 503-319-0769 On Jul-26-14 at 09:12:10 PDT, seller added the following information: Reserve LOWERED as per request, it is going to sell. Yes I am open to offers, no I will not take an offer lower then the current bid (that was an actual request), but have room in the buy now price. It does not have far to go before you hit the reserve. Updates I bought the new window tracks ($150) I don't think I will have time to install them, but it will fix the window sticking. Also I have the arm rest and will include them or install them in with the sale, sorry just spaced them before. They are not new and are the ones that came with the truck, not bad at all I just wanted different one. The window tracks are pretty easy to install or any glass shop can do it for like $100. Shipping is pretty easy, and I have shipped a few cars all over the country. You need to set it all up, but I can help. It is pretty cheap. Last truck was shipped to Virginia and I think it was like $750. Another went to Florida, as far from me as you can go it was like $900. After the purchase of the truck I will be happy to make a call or to and see what the cost would be for you.
