Vehicle Detail

This cool 1964 Ford Falcon 4-door station wagon lived it's entire life in Texas and Florida before being sold to the previous owner in Virginia a year ago. It is clean and rust free except for a very small (size of a nickel) surface spot on the lower end of the tailgate. Originally all white, the lower part was painted gray by an earlier owner. While the photos look great, this is not represented as a show car- it has a nice patina that I would keep if I was the next owner. In person the gray is a bit darker than shown in the photos- which were taken this summer in bright sunlight. This could be a very cool surf wagon that would hold it's own next to all the VW Busses, Jeeps etc on your next cruise to the shore. I'd call it a 25 footer with the usual dings and marks of a car that has been driven...that said, it would certainly not look out of place at any car show or cruise-in. The glass and chrome is nice all around including the optional Falcon roof rack. The interior, I am assuming, was redone at some point, but looks original and is very clean. The carpet is dark gray and in good shape. There are lap belts front and back. All gauges work except for the left turn signal. This wagon has an electric rear window which goes up and down as it should, but will sometimes stick for a second or two. All windows crank as they should, and all doors close tight. Tires are good wide whites with maybe 50% tread mounted on standard 13 inch Ford rims. The car starts first time/every time and runs great. It's not fast... but then you'll never be in a hurry driving it. It's an around town cruiser which begs you to drive it with your right hand on the wheel and your left elbow out the widow. Under the hood is the very durable 200 cubic inch 6 cylinder engine mated to the Ford Falcon 2 speed automatic transmission. The odometer and title show about 131,000 miles and I believe it to be accurate. All motor fluids were serviced last fall and less than 500 miles ago. The car shifts as it should with no thump between gears. Brakes are good. Some nice extra's are included for the new owner: an original 1964 owners manual, a 1964 Ford shop manual, the original red cylinder head (it has an aftermarket chrome head now), Ford logo rear rubber mats and a spare original Ford AM radio. The car currently has a neat repro (modern made to look old) am/fm radio with dash top speaker. The dash is original and has never been cut for the radio. I'll include the original 1964 Virginia license plates if the buyer is from Va. and wants to keep them with the car. FAMOUS MOVIE CAR: If all that isn't enough, this Falcon Wagon has the added cool factor of having had a cameo in a famous movie- "The Rookie", starring Dennis Quaid in 2002. It's the true story of a Texas HS baseball coach who gets a second chance at the major leagues. I suspect the reason the previous two owners resisted doing any additional cosmetic work on the car is that it still looks exactly as it did in the movie and why mess with a good thing. During a shot from the movie (see photos) you can see the Falcon towing a small u-haul trailer. I was told the Disney company beefed up the rear end a bit to handle the trailer. Otherwise, the car was sold by Disney after use in the movie to an earlier owner in Florida, before it came to a car collector in Virginia. There's a custom front license plate that you can see in the front photo's identifying the car as the same one that was in the movie. It's a cool conversation starter especially if with anyone who is also a baseball fan. The 8 foot fiberglass surfboard doesn't go with the car but if you want it- let me know and we can work something out. Also offered for sale locally so the listing may be ended at any time. Get in touch through Ebay email if you have any questions or want to see the car in person. The Falcon is located about 2 hours southwest of Washington DC
