Vehicle Detail

This is a 1977 Jeep Cherokee 401, the RARE "Z" CODE. It runs and drives. THIS RUNNING 401 ENGINE ALONE IS WORTH THIS PRICE!! Original gas tank has old fuel, so it currently runs off of an auxiliary gas tank. It drives nice and straight down the road. I bought it from the original owner, still have the original title and bill of sale from 1977. Original owner says engine has about 20,000 to 22,000 miles since rebuild. Motor was not bored out, just freshened up. Complete head work, rings, bearings, etc. Quadra Trac chain replaced by previous owner. Used in the mountains of Montana for deer hunting and fishing. Has a 1979 front grill on it because of a deer accident on a trail. Passenger side door window needs a bracket replaced, and the door panel parts are off but are included in the Jeep. This would make a great restoration project for any Jeep collector, but it runs and drives great right now. It has an Edelbrock 750 carburetor. I have the original Motorcraft 4350 carburetor that goes with the truck. Some of the wiring should eventually be replaced in the engine bay because the wires are getting old, but they still work. The body is rusty. The chassis is excellent. Previous owner used it up until I got it. Clear title. If you're an AMC Jeep collector, you know how hard these 401 Cherokee Jeeps are to find. Original owner bought this as a stripped-down Jeep. The only option he wanted was the big motor and air conditioning. This is not a Chief model or an S model. This is a plain Jane with a 401, which is virtually unheard of. Almost all the Cherokees are Chiefs or S models. DO NOT BID IF YOU CAN'T FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THE SALE! THIS MEANS: 1. You will need to come and pick it up near Rapid City, SD. Figure out if you can do that BEFORE you bid. 2. This also means ASK YOUR WIFE FIRST if you're one of those guys who needs his wife's permission to make purchases. DON'T BID JUST BECAUSE YOU LIKE THIS JEEP AND MOTOR. BID ONLY IF YOU PLAN TO PAY FOR IT AND PICK IT UP. (You'd think this would be common sense!) I'd be happy to answer any questions. Many of you have been asking me if this is ready for a long drive home. No, it's not. As I said, the gas tank has old fuel it in, so I run it off of an external one-gallon gas can. You can't take a long drive like that. The gas tank needs to be drained and cleaned out to get rid of the old fuel. Also, the tires are from the '70s or '80s and are not in good enough shape for a long road trip. You would want to have newer tires before taking it on the highway. I would also give it a tune up before a long trip. REMEMBER: THIS IS A 1977 JEEP. It will need a little going over before relying on it for long trips. Nothing that a typical car guy couldn't do. If all you want is the motor out of it, the price is the same, but we can talk about me pulling the motor for you if you only want to pick up the motor.
