This is a 1986 Volvo 240 DL sedan with manual transmission. It's a solid dependable car in reasonably good shape considering it is 28 years old! Please allow me to detail everything I know, both good and bad: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Good points: 1. Engine runs very well. 2. Transmission and clutch are operating great and the 5th gear overdrive is working also (this car has a button for 5th gear on top of the gearshift that you press when you are already in 4th gear in order to shift into 5th gear). 3. No visible fluid leaks or smoke 5. The AC system has been converted to R134a and it blows cold. 6. Timing belt was replaced only 6 months/4K miles ago. 7. Within the past 500 miles the distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs and spark plug wires were replaced. 8. The interior and trunk are in fairly good shape with no torn seats or bad stains. 9. I have several years of records to include plus the original owners manuals are included. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not so good points: 1. There is no radio. The wiring is still there, the bracket/faceplate border is still there and the speakers are still there but there is no radio. So you will need to get a radio installed. 2. The trunk has experienced moderate paint loss. The rest of the car is fine so I don’t know why the trunk has decided to do this but it has. So, you can live with it or get it repainted I guess. 3. There is a small bit of body damage on the left rear door. Please see photos for more detail. 4. The dash has cracked from age/heat in several places. 5. You have to pull up on the driver’s outside door handle to get it to open. Once you get used to doing it it’s fine but if you go to open it the first time by pulling it straight out and don’t know to pull up at the same time you might assume it’s broken. 6. The interior could probably use a good cleaning. 7. Rear tires are getting near the time where you might want to replace them. 8. At the last service they told me the cam seal is seeping oil a little bit and should probably be replaced. 9. The temp gauge is very slow to start working. You have to drive for a while before it starts showing the temp. 10. This might be most important of all: This is a 28 year old car. I am sure that there are some cosmetic or mechanical issues that I am either forgetting or I am unaware of. I am sure that if you go over the car in a detailed way you will find things that could stand to be replaced. Please keep this in mind; the car was put on the road when Reagan was still in office. I promise you the car is not perfect. I promise you that you can find cosmetic and mechanical issues with the car! The car runs and drives well and is in reasonably good shape but it’s darned old so please don’t expect a showroom ready car! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There is a $200 deposit due immediately via Paypal in order to end the auction. The remaining $1300 is due in cash when you pick up the car. I am giving you 14 calendar days after ending the auction to pick up the car and pay the remaining balance of $1300 in cash. If the car is not picked up within 14 days of the auction close the $200 deposit will be forfeited. There are no exceptions to this policy so please do not use Buy-it-Now until you are confident that you can pick up the car within 14 days and pay the remaining balance of $1300 in cash. If you are going to be having the car shipped and will not be able to pay cash in person there is one additional type of payment I can accept: A cashier's check issued by Suntrust bank or Wells Fargo bank ONLY. Let me be clear: It must be a cashier's check issued by one of these two banks ONLY. I can not accept a Money Order no matter who it is issued by. I also can not accept a personal check. I also can not accept a cashier's check issued by any other bank besides Wells Fargo or Suntrust. So, in review, the deposit is paid via Paypal. The remaining amount is paid either in cash in person or a cashier's check issued by Suntrust Bank or Wells Fargo Bank if you are not able to be there in person. Additionally, if paying via cashier's check I will have to make sure it is cleared prior to releasing the vehicle. I am able to deliver the car for you if needed at a cost of $1 per mile distance from the 30009 zip code with a $100 minimum. So, if you live 500 miles away I can deliver the car for a total of $500. If you live 75 miles away the cost will be a total of $100. Depending on where you live this may or may not be the best deal you can get for shipping but I just wanted to give you the option. If you do want me to deliver the car please let me know so i can set up another eBay listing for the shipping cost. The shipping cost will need to be paid in advance via Paypal before I leave to deliver the car.
