Vehicle Detail

This original 1968 California Special is being sold for a friend. All questions must be telephoned to him (Bob Sale, 314-575-8404) I will not return ANY EMAILS. Bob purchased this car in December, 2007 and has since put approximately 2,000 miles on the vehicle. This California Special has been authenticated by Ford Motor Company and the letter will be included with the sale. The reserve price will not be given out so please do not bother to ask. A $500 down payment must be received within 24 hours of the car being sold, or it will be relisted and negative feedback will be left for this non-paying person. The car is also available to inspection and test driving prior to the auction closing. Now lets talk about the car. This is an early production car featuring the ultra rare Marchel Fog Lights (with custom made Marchel covers) Being such an early car, it has the very rare recessed side rear marker reflectors on the rear quarters. When Bob purchased the vehicle it had chrome aftermarket air cleaner and valve covers, Bob has since found original Ford blue valve covers and air cleaner and added them to the car. Bob has also spent $500 for red factory Ford Mustang seatbelts. When Bob purchased the vehicle it was missing it's factory power steering. Bob purchased a 1968 Mustang complete factory power steering assembly. Bob had it rebuilt at the cost of $1,500 and had it installed by a professional mechanic. The car originally had a 289, 2 barrel engine when manufactured. It currently has a 302, 4 barrel (installed prior to Bob's purchase). It also has the correct factory mags with GT emblems on the center caps. The vehicle currently has an after market radio which barely works. Bob does have two factory 1968 AM radios that can be restored as AM or FM radios and come with the car. Bob also purchased and had installed chrome wheel lip moldings. The vehicle also comes with a car cover made especially for the vehicle. The car had no rust on it when purchased and it has undercoating. Besides a few scratches and chips. The paint is vibrant. The interior has no rips or tears and the headliner is in great shape also. The previous owner had added a Sun Tachometer and oil pressure, water temperature and amps. (These are easily removable) The car also has correct vintage dual exhaust with rolled tips. Bob is selling the car as he has recently purchased a new Shelby GT and has decided to sell the California Special due to the lack of amenities of an older car and Bob is 66 years old. The car has the correct spare tire, jack and lug wrench. It has been meticulously maintained and never driven during the winter months. BOB HAS HAD THE GLOVE BOX SIGNED BY CARROLL SHELBY WITH THE CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. Bob purchased this car when the market was down for $19,200. Bob has spent several thousand dollars after this initial purchase to restore the car closer to original condition. This auction will not end early, so please do not ask. This vehicle is being relisted with a much lower reserve as Bob has decided to sell it at a loss if needed.
