Vehicle Detail

1961 Ford Falcon Econoline NO RESERVE Hey, thanks for checking out "Rocko", my 1961 Econoline Falcon Van/Truck, you think the Ranchero had an identity crisis, the Econoline, didn't realize if it was a Van or a Truck, or little Falcon!!!. Anyways, these rigs are awesome, built off of the Ford Falcon, original called the Ford Falcon Econoline Compact. This is the first year of this model, they built these from 1961-1967. When these rolled out onto the streets, I am sure they were turning heads, just like today, when you actually get to see one of these rare rigs. This is the 3rd one I have owned, and there is nothing in the Ford line in the 60's that attracts so much attention. They are so interesting to look at, everyone as you drive the down the street just turn and look, and truly I don't think most people know what one is, and that is what makes it so fun to own, plus it is very usable, would make a great beach or surf rig, farm truck, use it for your business etc. Rocko is a very nice driver, very easy, especially since it is an Automatic. Please check out all the photos, he isn't perfect, but he has a pretty nice body, nice interior, very good undercarriage, has a little bit of rust that needs to be repaired but for the most part for a Econoline it is very solid. Down below there are around 80 photos of Rocko, you will get a good idea of what he is. Overall he is in great shape for his age. The Econolines were very prone to rust, especially in the cab, frame rails and rockers. The cab is in very nice shape. It has original floors, the wheel housing is in very nice shape, and inner tubes. Behind the seat floors are in excellent shape no rust issues or repairs. I took a picture of it under the mat, very clean. If you look underneath the front frame rails and boxes are all in very nice shape, no rust no repairs. The frame rails on this rig are actually in very nice shape, all the way back. The biggest issue when it comes to some rust, is the drivers side rocker, you can see some bubbling going on along the bottom of it. The inner rocker underneath looks pretty solid. There also is some filler in the quarter as you can see some cracking in the middle. The other rocker looks in pretty good shape, there is some filler, and a small crack along the bottom of the rocker seam. As you look around the wheel wheels, and lips, behind the wheels, all the pinch welds and original spot welds are in very nice shape. The roof gutter all the way around is in good shape, no rust issues, very clean. There are some minor dings, on this econoline. But when you look down thesides, it is very straight, and looks pretty good. As for the paint, someone at one time tried to do a nice job. But what I think someone tried to do, is later, come behind and put a clean coat on it, and they obviously did not prep it correctly, sheets of it have come off all over. Overall, it is pretty straight forward, which is nice, what you see is what you get, nothing to hide on it, pretty exposed inside and out so you know what you are dealing with. What I think would be pretty fun to do with it, is paint every panel a different color, like from the 50's pastel colors, and put your advertisement on it, it would attract so much attention. The glass is in pretty good shape, the front windshield does have a chip in it on the drivers side. The door glass does roll up and down nicely. The gaskets are old, and have cracks in it, the rear one has a 1" section missing at the bottom. For the most part it does stay nice and dry inside, which explains how nice the floors look. The bed has been lined with a spray in bedliner, not the best job, but probably looks better then it used to it. Overall it is very presentable, even though it has paint issues, he is pretty cute looking. Mechanically it starts right up, it has been upgraded with a 1973 Ford 250 inline 6 cylinder in it. I think originally it would have the 144 Inline 6, a 250 is a great upgrade, lots more ponies under the hood. It does run very good, it starts right up, does not blow any smoke, pretty clean running little motor. No noise or rattles, very smooth running. The transmission is a Automatic, which makes it really fun to drive, makes it easy. The brakes all work, it does not pull, stops very nice. The wheels someone painted Red, they didn't do a great job, you can't tell in photos, when you take off the trim rings and caps, you can see they painted the lug nuts, but they really didn't care, since they were coved. The tires are in really nice shape, with good tried. The are white walls, but they are not a traditional white wall, someone has take small regular white walls, and shaved them back, most people wouldn't notice, but I thought I would point them out, they really look awesome on this rig though . It is a strong runner, starts up every time, he currently is a parts hauler til he sells, just a kick to drive. Interior is very decent. Seats look nice have a little age, but are nice. Not much to the interiors on these, you can get the idea with the pictures. It does have a different steering column in it, not sure what out of. Vintage Blue Glitter Steering wheel, with Impala center cap on it. Glove box door is missing. The heater box fan does work, in all speeds, but the Temp switch is not connected, it needs to take apart and connected. The speedometer and odometer work, odometer reads 70,273, assume it turned over at lease once. All the exterior lights are working, turnsignals (you have to hold the switch a little for contact), brake lights, headlights, hi beams work, and windshield wipers work. The interior lights are not working. The Gen light works, temp gauge works (but reads wrong half the time), fuel gauge is not working currently. It is a non smoker rig, so no worries there. Overall a clean interior for what it is, I would take out my wife in it anytime, and actually would let her drive it anywhere, because I know it would make it home.
