Vehicle Detail
A handsome, well sorted 1973 Triumph GT6 Mk III, one of the last 400 to roll out of Coventry in August '73, in my ownership since 1997. Always garaged, repainted in Mimosa Yellow; prior undercoats are white and Royal Blue. Features/upgrades: Rebuilt transmission (by Quantum, installed 2010) with D type overdrive; new clutch; 3.89 differential. About 1k miles on trans and clutch. Panasport aluminum alloy wheels, 13 x 5.5 (original steel wheels included, with chrome centers) Firestone Firehawk SS20 tires (excel.) 6-2-1 two piece exhaust header, Jet Hot coated custom exhaust allows fitment of off-shelf muffler(s) Rebuilt Zenith-Stromberg carburetors New wheel bearings, front+rear Crane Fireball electronic ignition Lucas Sport Coil Spin-on oil filter external rocker oil feed KYB Gas-Adjust shocks add'l automatic electric cooling fan Sony AM/FM cassette stereo, with EQ/booster, 2 rear speakers, 1 front DOT 5 brake fluid conversion; just turned drums/rotors; braided steel hoses at all wheels self-adjusting rear drum brakes (stock) chromed valve cover re-chromed bumpers powder coated air cleaner (silver) dual bonnet air dampers (original single stay included) upgraded seat belts/locking reels (original buckles) new plugs+wires Sears Die Hard Silver battery (Oct. 2012) upholstered dash overlay (*new*) Spares: Mimosa Yellow acrylic enamel paint (full quart) tail lights painted rocker cover used power brake servo (cond. unknown) Bentley manual stock used muffler car cover All systems function normally or are in excellent condition. Engine runs smoothly and strongly, no knock, smoke or oil eating (PO did a top end rebuild at ~40k miles). Compression is 125-120-125-117-120-120* (just checked). For a video of the running engine, go to this URL: http://youtu.be/G7IY3YNxRe4 The Quantum Mechanics-built transmission/overdrive (on steering stalk) performs magnificently, and gives the car great jump with the 3.89 diff while still able to cruise with the OD (speedo is non-OD original). All suspension, brake and other drivetrain components are in like-new or excellent condition. Most of the rubber on the car has been replaced, including front and rear windshield seals; tires are like new. Oil has been changed every 3k miles or less. There is no power brake servo on the car; was hoping to install it but ran out of time. One part of the driver's side floorpan has long ago been repaired (like this since I owned the car); there are also non-structural rust perforations on the bottom of the front bumper support rails. There's a scratch on the passenger window and evidence on minor rust under the paint inside the front fender lip (photo). There is nothing on this car I haven't maintained or inspected; e.g., every major bolt has been reinstalled with anti-seize, as I intended to keep the car forever. It's been fun to own and gets a 'thumbs up' everywhere it goes. Car is located in Arlington, Virginia. * compression test done on cold engine
