Vehicle Detail

FOR SALE: 1953 Buick Eight Special that is 90% original and still runs and drives. Other than the paint and carpet it is basically all original. It has a 2 speed DynaFlow automatic, manual brakes, manual steering, and has a straight 8 cyl engine. It has 4 doors, seats 6 people, and has NO seat belts. The only two options it came with was a second heater under the front seat and a tissue holder under the glove box. This car was built to last and it has! It is solid and ready to be restored or just left as a survivor. I had planned to restore it myself once it died, but 4 years later it keeps working and I don’t have the heart take apart a good car like this. I have over $5,500 invested in the car so my starting auction price is the lowest I can take for the car. Things to know about the car: It’s metallic green paint job was done sometime in the 1990’s and is ready to be done again. - All gauges seem to work and the engine starts up. – The headlights and taillights work, but the back-up and license plate lights do not. - Turn signals work on the back, but not always on the front. – The headliner is stained and ripped and should be replaced, but it not falling in so it could last a little longer. - The front windshield and rear window are free of any cracks and chips. - It does not have a radio, but it is because it never had one and does have the factory OEM face-plates to cover the openings. - All four original hubcaps come with the car. - It does have a little rust under the fenders and rockers so it is no show car, but makes a great weekend driver. - The rear drivers-side door will not unlock and because of that will not open (this just happened last week). - The generator (no alternator) does not fully recharge the battery and I am told it needs new brushes. (I use a trickle charger to keep it full) - Both back roll-up windows have cracks in them but the glass is still water tight. All the seals around the rollup windows and pop-out vent windows need to be replace. - The drum brakes are sticking at times should be replaced in the next 100 miles or so. - The steering is a little loose. - Some door and trunk seals have been replaced, but all need to be done at some time in the future since most are 61 years old. - It has a push-button start which was put in to replace the original (unsafe) starting which required the gas petal to be pressed to the floor. - It’s true mileage is unknown, but I believe it is just under 101,000 miles. - I replaced the carpet, under-padding, and battery in 2011. I do have the clear TN title and it is ready for a new home. I can send more pictures if needed. This car cannot be driven far without a full servicing of everything so it would need to be put on a flat bed or trailer if you live more than 20 miles from me. I have a 5 min. video of the car that will show you a lot more details of the car and let you hear it run. Just send me a message and I will send you the link. If you have any questions just ask. Buyer would need to pay, come get it or have it picked up within 14 days of purchase.
