Vehicle Detail
"1974 CAMARO LT V-8 WITH AUTO""NO RESERVE" I acquired this little classic from a very good friend of mine in Texas who bought it from a storage unit auction in Dallas about 6 months ago. He asked me if I would like to sell it on ebay and when I got there to pick it up I liked it and the price was right so I bought it. The car had been in a storage unit for over 7 years. The storage company said as far as they could remember the car drove in under its own power and had not been started since. So I loaded up my prize and got it back to Bama for a closer inspection. The first thing I did is put it on the lift and inspect the vehicle from top to bottom and see what I was up against and to my surprise the old Camaro look very good. I dropped the fuel tank, cleaned it and reinstalled it. Then did a oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, fresh gas and a hot battery and hoped for the best. I hit the key and the little Camaro sprang to life. The car sat there and idled just like it should. Gave it a couple of revs and to my surprise the 305 ran great, no ticks, knocks, smoke or funny noises. So now I checked and topped of the antifreeze, got it up to temp and again to my surprise no leaks and no overheating. Step one completed. The motor is in great condition. The next area I tackled is the transmission. I put the car in reverse and nothing happened. Put it in drive and nothing happened. Checked the fluid and what do ya know its 4 qts low. I went ahead and dropped the pan and changed the filter, gasket and fluid. Now the moment of truth, put it gear and sure enough she moves. I was so excited I started to back out of the shop and hit the break and oops no brakes. I pulled back in and checked the fluid and it was low enough to warrant a closer inspection. I pulled all four tires and checked for leaks and found none. The shoes and pads better than 50% life left so I bled them and top off with fluid to try again. This time the brakes worked ok enough for a test drive but are still a little soft and spungy but they stop the car. Now for the test drive, I pulled out and headed down the road and again to my surprise the Camaro shifted thru all 3 gears and drove strait down the road. The motor ran strong, idled when I stopped and pulled off every time with no hesitation. The suspension worked like it should with no noises. The front end was tight and the car drove strait down the road with no wandering or pulls from side to side. The tires even held air and other than the fact they are dry rotted from sitting felt good and rolled fine. So far so good, I now have a running and driving 1974 Camaro that has a good running 305 motor, slick shifting 350 trans and brakes that stop. This is the point where you have to say to yourself, where do I go from here. I looked at the interior and decided to leave it just the way it is and let the new owner deal with it. As you can tell in the pictures it will need a complete interior overhaul. Every thing is there just in poor condition. Then I thought about the exterior and came to the same conclusion, the new owner will have to deal with this also. The frame and underside of the car is in great condition with some surface rust but overall very solid. The fenders, doors and unibody floor pans are in great shape with the only areas of rust being the bottom of the quarter panels as shown in the pictures. The body overall is in good condition and should be a good starting point for what ever the new owner wants to accomplish with it. So, being that the car was bought to sell, that is what I'm gonna do. I cleaned the Camaro up and it is now time to sell this little classic here on ebay at no reserve. The Camaro will be sold as is where is with no warranty written or implied however, If you the winning bidder feel that I have lied or deceived you in any way in this description, I will refund your deposit minus any fuel cost if I deliver and we can go away from the deal still friends. I can deliver anywhere in the lower 48 states for $1.25 per loaded mile on an open trailer. I require any bidder with an ebay rating of 5 or less to contact me before bidding. The Camaro is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. I welcome any and all questions and can provide additional pictures to help in your decision. I am open to trades or fair cash offers, just make sure you are ready to close the deal with a deposit before you make one. I believe that this is a great start to a really cool car when finished so bid early and bid to win. Good luck Ben
