Vehicle Detail
*** 1961 CORVETTE REMOVABLE HARD TOP ROADSTER *** VERIFIED LPO("LIMITED PRODUCTION OPTION") 1625 RACING MODEL 1 OF 25 MADE IN 1961!!! LOW MILEAGE-GENTLY DRIVEN VEHICLE-ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL "TURN HEADS" EVERYWHERE YOU GO!!! Exterior styling was facelifted by Chevrolet for this 1961 Model Year. The rear was completely restyled with four taillights, now a Corvette tradition, but a new look for 1961. This was the last model with 3" "wide" whitewall tires which were an option. This vehicle has Dunlop 4 Ply Belted Bias tires to maintain the historic look as well as the correct tire profile. This was also the last year where contrasting Cove Colors were available which is one of the most STRIKING aspects of this particular Corvette. The Body Paint is Deep, Bright and in Excellent Condition. The Chrome Trim, Carpeting and Vinyl Interior are also in Amazing Condition. I am only the 3rd Owner of this "Classic", Corvette Roadster. Now 53 "Years Young", this car epitomizes California Cool. This is a VERY RARE version of this Model as it is one of only 1,794, Two-Tone Roman Red with White Cove Paint Combinations that were ever made. What makes this an EXCEPTIONAL and even RARER OPPORTUNITY is the fact that very few of the Removable Hard Top, Roadster Models were ever produced in this Color Combination. This is a Factory-Installed Top, and there is no Soft Top. This Car is not Super Charged as it uses a 4 Barrel Carburetor, and the previous owner indicated to me that he believed the engine to be 283 ci, but I am not able to offer such an assurance. This Roadster also has a 4 Speed, Manual Transmission. The maximum speed on the Speedometer is 160 Miles Per Hour, and Chevrolet meant it when they built this Roadster. According to Chevrolet's Factory Records, this is 1 of only 25 LPO("Limited Production Option") 1625 Racing Models, dubbed the "BIG TANK", made in 1961. With this Model, the standard 16-Gallon Fuel Tank was replaced with a 24-Gallon Fuel Tank suitable for Long-Distance Racing. The larger Fuel Tank necessitated the Hard Top because the space that would have otherwise been used for the Soft Top was needed for the oversized, 24-Gallon Racing Fuel Tank. Corvette Historian Jim Gessner, Keeper of Corvette Records, indicated that the 1961 LPO 1625 Corvette was used for extensive, race testing that year. The 1961 Sebring 12 Hours saw numerous Corvettes entered, albeit by Private Teams. THIS IS A VERY, VERY RARE VEHICLE!!! I am selling this Classic on an "as is" basis. This Car is Clean, Damage Free with Straight Body Lines, and it is Original. While I believe this to be the case, I can not offer any guaranty for this as I am not an expert on Corvettes. This Car was bought by me 10 years ago, and unfortunately between business and family responsibilities, I have not had much time to enjoy it or devote to it. With only 74,030 Miles, this Classic has many Miles left for the "Corvette Enthusiast". These are some recent "Preventative Maintenance" Services that have been performed: 1.) Heavy-Duty Autocraft Maintenance-Free Battery Added 2.) 8 ACDelco(Genuine GM Restoration) Spark Plugs Added 3.) Radiator Flush with Prestone 4.) Fuel Line Replaced 5.) Upper and Lower Radiator Hoses Replaced 6.) ACDelco(Genuine GM Restoration) Ignition Spark Coil Added 7.) ACDelco(Genuine GM Restoration) Condenser Added 8.) Heavy-Duty Quick Release Battery Terminals Added 9.) Delco Moraine Products(Genuine GM Restoration) Master Brake Cylinder Added 10.) Hastings Premium Gas Filter Added This Classic is in good, operating condition. I have seen this particular Model LPO 1625 Corvette fetch prices of $175,000-$225,000 and more with a mild restoration if you can find one. I believe my Asking Price to be extremely FAIR as I am just looking to move this BEAUTY along to a new owner and home as I don't have the time to devote to it that I wish that I could. This car has been "babied" by me, as well as both of the previous owners, and it shows. The Initial Asking Price is a BARGAIN, and there is no urgency to sell this vehicle. The fact is that I already have mixed feelings about selling it at all. I have posted many Pictures of this vehicle, but do feel free to ask an questions that you may have. I am not a "Car Nut" so my technical knowledge is fairly limited. Please keep in mind that this is an "as is" sale, and as the buyer you will be responsible for all transportation costs. Terms of Purchase are a $2,000 deposit made through PayPal as the Winning Bidder within 24 Hours of the Close of this Auction with the Balance Due within 7 Days. I have also been told, by numerous serious Corvette collectors as well as by 2 Corvette NCRS contest judges, that my initial asking price is VERY LOW when considering the condition, rarity and low mileage of this vehicle. According to these authorities, there were only 25 of these LPO 1625 Racing Models made in 1961. This may well be one of the RAREST Corvettes that you will ever see. Several of these experts said that my initial asking price should have been set much, much higher. I was also told that the "Market Price" on this vehicle is "Sky is the Limit" due to such extreme rarity. How many of the 25 factory Racing Models made in 1961 still EXIST??? My hunch is that very few have survived since many were used in racing events. This Vette is a "time capsule", and I have listed it at a "sacrifice" price level. If you are a "serious" buyer, with funds in hand, I have 32 additional photos of this vehicle on "Shutterly" which will prove that this vehicle is an LPO 1625. Just message me with your name, telephone number and e-mail address, and I will send my Photo Gallery to you. Unfortunately, EBAY limits the number of photos of this vehicle that I am able to post for this ad. I am also happy to arrange for private showings of this vehicle as well. PLEASE NOTE-There is NO Reserve on this Auction. Sorry, but I am not interested in considering any trades. *** BUY WITH "TOTAL CONFIDENCE" AS I HAVE A 100% "POSITIVE FEEDBACK" RATING *** WITH EBAY WITH 500 INDIVIDUAL TRANSACTIONS HAVING BEEN COMPLETED!
