Completed restored in 2012/3 with 5 speed Tremec and cold A/C Deluxe Marti report confirms this is an original Candy Apple Red 289 4v V8 with manual transmission and one of 854 made with these paint/trim codes. The car was delivered new in Texas and is believed to be a life-long Texas car before until it came to Southern California a few months ago. Car was rescued from a fate worse than Eleanor by previous owner and completed restored and tastefully upgraded just over a year ago. He obviously spent A LOT of money and the result is a very sharp car with some tasteful modern upgrades. The highlights of the build are power front disc brakes, power steering, Tremec 5 speed transmission with hydraulic clutch, new Sanden A/C, tilt steering column and a premium leather and suede interior. This is an awesome car, I looked at about 7 or 8 fastbacks before buying it and none were as nice cosmetically or drove as well as this car; the power steering, power brakes and smooth-shifting 5 speed Tremec transmission really exploit the power of the 289 V8 and the A/C, tilt sterring and supportive seats truly make it something you could drive everyday. In short the modifications make the car a much more modern and involving driving experience compared with a stock version. I have owned and enjoyed it for only a few months and now have to unexpectedly and reluctantly part with it as we’ve just found out we’re having another child! It is offered here without reserve - happy bidding. SPECIFICATION ExteriorCar was re-painted in its original Candy Apple Red color in 2012-13, it's beautiful paint job with a high gloss deep shine, buffed to a gorgeous finish. It’s not a show quality job but is very nice indeed for a driver and I’d say it’s easily an 8/10, there are no obvious flaws or scratches. Structurally the car is very solid with new floors, trunk and quarters. The body is very straight and the doors, trunk and hood all align well and therefore fit very nicely and open and close easily. The hood is from a ’68 and has the turn signals fitted in the vent scoops. All exterior chrome, brightwork, lights and emblems are new and look superb. GT fog lights are fitted in the grill and work with the parking lights as they should. The windscreen and side windows appear to be new, fastback glass possibly original. Wheels are chrome 15” Shelby American alloys, same as fitted to the Shelby Cobra, and are wrapped in staggered Cooper Cobra tires. InteriorAlso completely redone with new TMI leather and suede seat covers and seat foam: much more bolster than the stock seats and very comfortable. New 80/20 loop carpet with Mustang branded over mats. New wood & billet steering wheel on tilt column (essential if you’re 6’ tall or above), new AM/FM radio with direct USB connector for your iPhone. Upper and lower GT consoles, Hurst shifter, new Mustang-branded seat belts front and rear. A/C installation is very clean and utilizes original heater controls and subtle under-dash vents, blows ice cold. All gauges, lights, horn, wipers, heater, etc, work well. Only the clock and map lights in the upper console do not work. Everything looks new or has been completely redone. Trunk is nicely finished with Mustang-branded carpeting. Drivetrain The factory correct 289 engine was completely rebuilt and is equipped with a polished Edelbrock hi-rise intake with a new polished Holley 4-bbl carb and electric choke. New ceramic coated headers have been installed along with Magnaflow stainless steel mufflers and stainless GT390-style exhaust tips. The engine has been detailed as has the engine bay. The engine has been outfitted with polished cast aluminum ribbed valve covers & matching air cleaner. The aftermarket A/C system has a polished Sanden A/C compressor. A nice new polished aluminum radiator and chrome overflow reservoir have been installed. A beautiful set of custom polished billet hood hinges have been fitted as has a very nice chrome shock tower brace. The front end was rebuilt at the time of the restoration, car was also fitted with frame connectors and tracks true and straight down the road. Brand new gas tank. Transmission is the aforementioned Tremec 5 speed manual transmission and has a hydraulic clutch. The car has been totally reliable in its time with me. No leaks of any kind and always starts easily on the first turn of the key and throttles down to an even idle after 5 mins. It sounds great, handles well and has good power - an impressive drive for a 45 year old car. Paperwork The car has a clear California title. I have the Marti report and Pre-Purchase Inspection, copies of which I will happily forward. There are a stack of receipts that go with the car, thousands of dollars in parts alone. A brand new custom fitted car cover is also included in the sale. The mustang can be viewed in Los Angeles 90046 during the auction. Winning bidder must put down $500 deposit within 24hrs of auction close. Happy to any questions and thanks for looking at this auction.
