Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE 1963 Cadillac Series-62 Sedan I am offering the sale of my 1963 Cadillac Series-62 sedan. I purchased the vehicle 4 years ago from a local man and immediately started working on it to bring it what it is today; which is a fun car-show or Sunday cruiser. This vehicle has been extremely reliable for me over the last four years. DRIVE-TRAIN The vehicle overall runs very well for being 51 years old. The mileage is believed to be original at around 66K. The engine is the stock Cadillac 390 and transmission is the stock automatic trans. The vehicle does have A/C, however I have not even tried charging it (compressor rotates freely). The engine runs well and has always started right up for me year after year. It certainly doesn’t win any races, but it scoots around town on the highway just fine for being such a heavy boat. If I don’t drive the car for a few weeks sometimes there is a little smoke that comes out at start up, but after a few minutes of idling it’s typically gone and it does not smoke at all while driving around. The transmission drips a few drops after a while too. I replaced the pan gasket when I got the car, but I think the leak is from one of the linkage seals. It’s really minimal actually. The vehicle is currently registered here (UTAH) and I have the Utah title in hand (in my name). The vehicle has primarily been used for Sunday drives or car shows and that’s about it. I don’t think it sees 1000 miles a year. Exhaust is nice and quiet. Not noisy at all. BODY/INTERIOR Some years ago I set out to find a car that I could make into a comfy rat-rod style cruiser. I bought this Caddy locally and took it home to start the work. I painted the vehicle myself and added some scallops and ghost flames in the matte black. I did some chrome work and shined the heck out of a few things. The black is a matte-flat “rat-rod” black, and the tan you see is new “Bahama sand” paint (that was the original color of the car, so the door jambs and dash match). I added new carpet, did the door panels myself, and had a local company redo the seats to match the exterior. As you can see, the interior theme matches the exterior, which is a black and tan with red piping color combo. Obviously this is an old car so don’t expect it to be new or perfect. I’m not a body guy and to be honest this was one of my first paint jobs. The paint is all single-stage paint. I’m fairly handy with cars and like to get into trying new things but I am no Chip Foose. It’s not a perfect show car by any means but it’s not that shabby either and has held up just great over the last 3 years (maybe I’m being a tad too hard on myself). I received a few recognition awards for the car at some local car shows some years ago and I get a lot of “thumbs up” rolling the car around town. The artwork on the trunk I hand painted, but the art itself is not mine (to be fair, it was found online). Some of that paint is chipping away, kinda gives it a patina look to it. There was one lower (small) rust area on the front lower fender that I repaired prior to paint the car and that was about it. The car is actually very clean and tidy for being 51 years old. TIRES The large white-wall tires were purchased new from Coker some years ago, I have the receipt (as well as ALL the receipts for what I have done or had done since I have owned it). They are still practically new tread wise. TUNES I added some tunes to the car including a Kenwood stereo, four speakers inside, and two large subs in the trunk. I left the stock stereo in the dash just because it completes the look; the new stereo was installed in a hump on the tunnel. I also molded the front speaker pods on the kick panels. SOME ITEMS TO NOTE The one thing I always regret not doing is adding air-ride suspension. I think any older Caddy begs for it, this one does for sure. Maybe the new owner could make me a promise and do it. J Another item to note, when you fill the gas tank all the way to the top, some gas leaks out of the top of the tank. There is a plate with a seal on it that would need to be replaced to simply fix this, but you’ll have to drop the tank once it’s empty. If never really topped it off. The gas gauge is a bit sticky as well. Sometimes takes a couple knocks on the dash to get it to pop up. Some of the old vacuum lines in the doors (for window and lock operation) have dried up and cracked. I would invest in a little bit of time to replace some of them, otherwise they work just fine. I went through the engine compartment and cleaned things up a bit. I do have the original air cleaner assembly as well. The brakes work great and it has a new master cylinder recently. Lights, wipers, & horn all work. It drives down the road nice and straight and feels like you’re driving a pillow. I love to float this ride around town especially around Halloween because frankly, the sinister look of it scares the hell outta folks. Cruising to your local car show or just around town can be done in comfort. A rat-rod/rockabilly cruiser for the whole family! I’m a car guy myself and am just looking to sell her off to possibly start something new or decrease my fleet by a few. I’m not looking for a fortune out of the car but definitely need to recoup a little bit of what I have into it. Thanks for looking! WARRANTY This a used vehicle that is 51 years old. It runs well for the year but no warranty is expressed or implied. CONDITION OF SALE A deposit of $500.00 will be required within 48 hours of the auction end. This will be best completed via Paypal. The rest of the purchase price will need to be paid for within 5 days there after. I am happy to facilitate a pick-up of the car if shipping. Payment must be by certified funds or cash in-person (at a bank) only.
