Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on one 1979 Datsun 620 Pickup. ALL ORIGINAL. 4 SPEED. 2 Liter L20 Engine. W58 Head. CLEAR TITLE. Very cool ratrod, daily driver or farm truck. ATTENTION: Please save yourself some time and do not ask if I will take less than the starting bid. If it does not sell, I will sell locally, I already have local offers over the starting bid for use as a daily driver, I just wanted the "true" enthusiasts to get a shot at it first. Thanks. Runs great, drives great. Was a farm truck for many years always parked under the shed so the rust is minimal for this era. Frame is solid as can be. Only bad bed rust is up at front. Only bad body rust is front fender doglegs and passenger door skin has corroded at the bottom. Driver side door skin is great. Hood is thin as they all were, but it functions properly, stays closed etc... just take care when opening and closing and you are fine. Driver front floor has some corrosion, the rest of floors are solid, just has some surface rust. You can stand on them, no problem. OK Here are the details: TONS OF PHOTOS AND VIDEO AT BOTTOM OF LISTING. Just click on the VIEW ALL below the picture box to be directed to the hosting site with much larger and clearer photos. ENGINE: COMPRESSION IS 180-190-185-190 FRONT TO BACK...COLD. Runs great, no leaks. A little smoke from time to time if you really rev it up. VERY peppy...see video. The head is a W58. Block is L20 which I believe to be original. I believe the mileage to be accurate but it has rolled over once judging by pedal wear. Let's just say it has 162K to be safe, but DEFINITELY not 262K. The engine runs like it has been rebuilt at some point...especially the great compression numbers and some evidence of it being painted at one time...The carburetor is original and idles high and sometimes erratically low, so I would put a 32/36 DGV Weber on for best performance. You can drive as is though...just annoying. I did de-smog everything I could and it runs alot better than before. I have all the parts I took off (air pump, etc). The exhaust donut gasket at the manifold to downpipe junction will need replacing at some point. It's loud, but not too loud that you can't bear it. Sounds kind of cool :) New NGK plugs and fuel filter. INTERIOR: All original with original floor mats. Seat has been recovered at some point, but even that is worn. Door panels good. Dash pad is cracked on top. Doors open and close properly, windows go up and down fine. Passenger window gets a little bound, probably from one of the small dents in the door, but it goes all the way up and down. Missing dome lamp cover and bulb. An aftermarket or later style console was added. Radio may work??? I have all the wiring for it, I just preferred to unhook it and preserve the original wiring. ELECTRICAL: All electrical working except for temperature sending unit. The gauge is fine. The temp sending units are bad to fail on all the Datsuns, so easy fix. Engine does not run hot, I hooked up a aux temp aftermarket gauge to make sure...it does not come with truck. Driver front turn signal lens is broken. Tail lamps have a crack here and there but are not falling apart by any means and have passed inspection before. Lights, horn, blower motor, turn signals, interior lights, wipers...etc... all working. The dome lamp is missing it's cover and bulb, but I imagine it works too, as everything else does except the temperature sending unit. CHASSIS: Frame is super solid. No evidence of any wrecks ever. It was a farm truck. All body to frame mounts are solid and even the rubber donuts are in good shape. All suspension mounts are solid.Brakes work good, but the power brake booster is leaking air so I unhooked it. Brakes work great, but you do have to apply pressure like manual brake cars. Tires are decent, always put used tires on this thing. 205/75-14 on front and 215/75-14 on rear. Radiator support is great. Driver front floor has some corrosion and one very small spot on driver rear floor. The rest of floors are fine and solid, just surface rust. You can stand on them and they are fine, just not the driver front. BODY: Decent for the era. Mostly solid with rust in typical Datsun truck places. SEE PHOTOS. Only dents are in the passenger door. Nothing that could not be popped back out as they were from things being leaned onto the truck, etc.... not from an accident. The hood was thin as hell from the factory, so just exercise care when opening and closing and you are fine. There was a respray at some point to a darker blue. Originally it was a light blue as can be seen under the door panels. Bed has structural rust towards the front only. The wheel wells inside the bed are solid and very nice actually, not dented up bad at all! Just a couple of small dents, The bed handles work, but are crusty. The tailgate is very solid, especially at the hinges (which was a problem area for this era). The bottom portion on the passenger side of tailgate does have some rust. SEE PHOTOS. WHAT WOULD I DO: This is a great truck for a daily driver, farm truck or ratrod show truck. It runs VERY well, lots of pickup and like the revs. Some new tires, a Weber carb and a new temperature sending unit and you are good to go for many, many miles.....or drive it like it is and fix those things as you go. Cranks up first try every time...it's a Datsun :) Here are all the things I have to state because of the idiots of the world: IF YOU HAVE ZERO OR NEGATIVE FEEDBACK YOU MUST CONTACT ME BEFORE BIDDING, IF NOT, YOUR BID WILL BE CANCELED, NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!! VEHICLE MUST BE PICKED UP WITHIN 14 DAYS OF AUCTION END. A STORAGE FEE OF $25.00/DAY WILL BE APPLIED THEREAFTER. PAYMENT IS DUE 7 DAYS FROM AUCTION END.
