Vehicle Detail
Here we have a nice 1953 BMW R51/3 rolling project. It has matching frame and engine numbers, and includes a nice set of sheet metal. This includes an original tank in good shape, an original front fender - also good. a new reproduction headlight, original headlight ears, and a reproduction rear fender. Hubs and rims are correct and in nice shape - tires may or may not beĀ usable. Splines on both hubs are good - one is better than the other and should be used in the rear. The correct original duplex front brake assembly is included as well. Handle bars, risers, and used controls are included as is the steering damper knob. The internal fork dampers and steering damper plates are not included with this machine. The frame is in nice condition and appears to have no modifications or damage. The tabs that would hold the center stand are worn out as most are - and an extra set of new tabs is included - but will have to be welded in place. Engine is complete with generator and magneto - a new wiring harness will be needed. The correct original Bing carbs are included as well! - The transmission includes the kick start lever and the correct air cleaner assembly sits on top. A used original drive shaft assembly is included as is the complete final drive assembly. Rear suspension is clearly shown in the pictures so you can see the posts and springs are there - a set of original covers is included separately. Both hubs are complete with internal parts and bearings. This is a great project that will culminate in a rare and very usable machine that is a great joy to ride. These plunger twins have a low seat height and handle really well, so fun to ride. The engine has the same design as the 1955-1969 R series like R50 R60/2 and R69S - with very few small changes. I have many of the other parts required to complete this machine and I am ready to help you find parts if you want help. Please feel free to ask questions - I will try to answer as quickly as I can. This motorcycle does not have a title - and I cannot provide one. It comes with a bill of sale.
