Vehicle Detail
I am selling my 1988 FJ62. She has 252k miles and doesn't smoke or leak from the engine or transmission. Cold factory air. NO RUST due to living in Arizona a lot (per Carfax). I have been restoring her with Toyota parts as time and money allow. There are a couple of dings and scratches and one dent in the passenger rear quarter (see photos). Original paint and interior. The paint is in very good condition 8.5/10 and the interior is 7/10 with typical wear and the driver's seat rip. The paint would be a 9 if the pinstripes weren't gone from the sun and some of the plastic "chrome" weren't flaking. The dash is extremely cracked (also due to living in Arizona) and has a carpet cover. New OEM front side marker lights and the alternator is brand new. The power windows and locks all work with these 2 exceptions: drivers rear doesn't unlock sometimes and the passenger rear window is slow and comes off track. I have cleaned and relubed the lock mechanisms and they jump up and down with a SNAP. The power steering pump/hose area appears to "seep" but there are no drips. There is a crack in the trim piece around the AC controls where the previous owner replaced the stereo with a CD player and wasn't careful (see pic). At least he did upgrade all of the speakers. The rear taillight lenses have a few cracks but work fine. All lights inside and out work 100%. The 4WD system works 100% and the the hubs lock and unlock freely. I don't think this truck has been wheeled much at all, based on the condition of the undercarriage (zero damage or signs of abuse) and lack of mud in cross members, frame rails and other hidden areas. It has honest wear for its age and probably 95% highway miles in my estimation.Feel free to contact me for more info or specific pictures or videos of cranking, running, etc. I will be glad to take pics of any specific areas of concern. The 2 load bars shown on top of the truck will be INCLUDED but the 4 small canoe holders will NOT be included. The truck has been neatly desmogged but I retained the pump and other parts removed. The cats are gone for good though. It has a K&N style intake (see pics). I want to reiterate that this truck has NONE of the common rust for FJ62s. Zero. Nada. Zilch. I even removed the rubber plugs from the tailgate (under carpet trim panel) and the inside is clean and dry with no signs of rot. The upper wheel wells are great, along with the leading edges of doors and inside the door jambs, etc. The undercoating is 95% intact in wheel wells and underside of pan. The only minimal rust I have found is some very minor surface rust on the leaf springs and axle housings (see photos). Overall this is an extremely rust-free truck with interior wear consistent with mileage. She cranks and drives fine and there are no leaks or surprises. I drive her on a weekly basis but I have too many vehicles and she deserves a good home. This truck is nice enough to be a daily driver and could easily be restored further, but would also make an excellent candidate for a trail or expedition rig, diesel swap, V8 conversion, etc. It is very SOLID but not so nice that you would feel bad modding it for your particular use. This is the truck to drive daily and slowly restore or turn into a expedition rig. You won't be wasting time and money on rust because there is none. Thanks and message me with any questions!
