Vehicle Detail
1967 Ford Mustang Fastback Factory 390 S code (Built 428 Now) - Factory 4spd - Marti Report Documented NO RESERVE Thank you for checking out my 1967 Mustang Fastback. It has been awhile since I have had a Fastback up for sale, probably over 50 have passed through my doors in the last 10 years from 1965-1973. Not that often have I owned a factory 390 S code, 4spd Fastback. Interesting also to note that many of these would have gotten the GT package, but this one was ordered still with the Heavy Duty Suspension, if they would had an option called Go Fast, this would have been it, no power robbing AC or PS. This is the top engine option for 1967, the High Performance GT 390 engine, S code (5th digit in Vin), and Factory 4 speed (code 5) on door tag, this is the car to own for go fast folks. It has all of its original VIN's on the car, which is very important when you purchase a car like this, many fakes out there claiming to be the real deal, this is documented as well with a Marti Report. Both fender aprons have the original vins, and the door tag is original to the car as well. I see lots of people buying these reproductions Dynacorn '67 fastback bodies for $15K, not saying there not worth it, but why would you purchase a reproduction body, with no VIN number, and then have to buy everything under the moon for it, and at the end of the day, you don't truly have a real car, especially a rare car like this. Myself personally, buy the real thing. These cars are very hard to find, they didn't build many. This car was bought new at Francis Ford Inc, Portland, Oregon. It has always been in Oregon in that area. I am just about 50 miles south of were it was bought new. Here in the Northwest we have some of the best projects, because we have very mild winters, and cool summers, and we do not salt the roads. This car does have some minor rust, that is fixable, I am going to show you a lot of photos of it, showing inside and out, the frame rails, rockers, torque box, all the structure of this car is very good, engine aprons and firewall all rust free, battery box is solid. This is a very good project car, restored examples are fetching $40-60K in the last few years. Included with the sale, is the 428 engine you see in the pictures, I have about $8,800 in receipts for this engine. For transport, I will set the engine in the car, not hook it up, but bolt it to the motor mounts, this is not a running driving car. I show a picture of the reciepts that explains what was done to it. The engine was built in 2005, and has been waiting to be installed in the car. Engine is painted correct 1967 Ford Blue, Cobra LeMans valve covers, Cobra Air Cleaner. Also has a set of 1969 428CJ reproduction exhaust manifolds. I have all the specs on the engine in the receipts I show pictures of the, so won't go to much into detail, since you can read the receipts. This is a High Performance engine, the Portland shop did a lot of work to the block and heads. The paperwork says 428CJ on it, and in the reciepts, they were building I believe to perform better then a factory CJ. It has ported and polished heads, has additional oil passages in block, read receipts and you can see what was done. The body on this car is in fairly nice shape. I'll just walk around the car and explain it from front to back. First of all, what you see in the pictures is what comes with the car, nothing else is added or taken away. The car needs restored, as you can see, or just put the motor in it and drive it as if you want with a little assembly. The grill is there, but is missing some of the trim, the grill has 2 areas cut out for GT lights. The bottom valance is very nice, it is new. The bumper is decent, but you will replace it. Only 2 brackets are holding bumper on front, I have the 2 inner brackets. The drivers fender is original, but as you can see you need a new one. The drivers door is original, but you may want to replace it or have it repaired. The big thing about the door and fender, is that it is only surface damage, the inner door jam is in very good shape, no issues, I show a picture of it. The drivers quarter panel is original, it did have some old repairs done to it in the past. Most of the paint on the Fastback is original, but the rear quarter has been spotted in. You can see some repairs on the lower back section down low, and there are 2 bondo holes were you can see filler on the inside in trunk area. What it needs is that bottom of quarter replaced, behind the wheel. I think it has some rust at the bottom corner, and the cut it out, funny thing is that it is identical on both sides, looks worse then it is. The trunk drop offs are perfect, so really just the bottom of quarters, and the botton of inner wheel tub, pretty minor when you really start looking at fixing it. The taillight panel is in very nice shape. I put a new GT valance on it, because I was planning on putting GT exhaust tips on it and I think this valance looks great. Inside the trunk area is very solid no signs of any rust issues, very clean. The trunk lid is decent, but it does have 2 rust holes in each corner that need repaired. The passenger quarter is in good shape, original, but like I mentioned before it needs some work behind the wheel. Both wheel lips on both quarters are in very nice shape, no rust bubbles so that is a big plus. The rockers are in good shape, I have had the rocker moldings off, and they are excellent, not rust or bubbles. The passenger door is in very useable condition. The roof and filler panel are in good shape between trunk, and no signs of rot in the window area. The passenger fender has been replaced at some point early in its life, best thing would be to replace it for ease. The hood is in excellent shape, it is an original hood from a 1967 but not original to the car. All the glass is in good shape, the windows do roll up and down. Overall study the pictures it will tell you a lot about the condition, it is in very good shape and nothing to hid. The undercarriage is in really nice shape. All the frame rails front and back are rust free, very solid and clean. The floors from underneath look good, but when you look inside you can see that the drivers floor has some heavy rust on top and needs to be replaced. The passenger side does have some surface rust but you may be able to clean it up and us it, but it will have some pitting. The rear floors have some surface rust but are in good shape. The seat risers are in really good shape, as is the trans tunnel. Also notice the shifter hole is unaltered. The rear area for the fold down seat is very very good, no issues, and you can see inside the front of the quarter panels in very nice shape. The door jams are in very nice shape as well no rust. Overall, study the pictures, when it comes to the basic Unibody of this car it is in awesome shape for its age. Interior as you an see it needs interior, I laid everything out that I have for the car. The basics are there, the hard stuff for a fastback. It did not come with a console originally, but it does have the top of a 4spd console included. Bucket seats, included, it also had fold down rear seat as an options. Also notice that it has a Tach Instrument cluster, nice rare option, not sure if it works. I did at one time, hook up a battery to the car, and the exterior lights all worked on the car, so wiring in general is intact on the car under the hood, wipers even worked and heater blower. Again, I only have what you see in the pictures. The drivetrain is pretty straight forward, the engine is included on the stand, I do not have the original motor to the car, but this is a Built 428, I have not heard it run before, but if you see the pictures you can see that the heads are super clean, the engine shop broke the engine in when it was first built, but it has been waiting to be put in the car. I never put it in the car, because I was waiting to strip the engine bay, repaint engine bay, then put it in, I never got around to it. Most everything is under the hood, the brakes do work on the car, well lets say they work to get it on and off a trailer, it does stop. It does not have power steering, but at this point you could add it if you wanted. It was not ordered with it, owner did not want it since it robbed the power from the engine. The transmission, is a Top Loader 4spd, RUG A-D, I do have a Center Force Clutch kit for the car, it cost around $450. The rearend is a 9" like it come with new. Overall mechanically all I can say is that it is mostly there, you can see what it has in the pictures. Overall look at the pictures, read the receipts in the pictures. I can turn over the engine by hand easily with the spark plugs out, with them in, it is tough but you can do it, because it does have lots of compression, engine shop when they tested it, wrote it had 180-185 in each cylinder. I have over $8800 in reciepts. The Carb will need gone through because it has been used before, and I can smell some old gas in it, it may be fine, but while the engine is out, take it apart and take a look. When the car is transported, I will wrap the engine in plastic to keep the water and dust off of it. Will put the Valve covers, and aircleaner in a protective box, and will put some old valve covers on it, to protect the valves. I will set engine in car, it does have new motor mounts, I will bolt it in, bolt the transmission to the engine with a few bolts, will not install the clutch, it will be boxed as well. Engine will only be in car for safe transport, then you can do what you want from there. My plan was to get the engine bay all redone, then put the engine in the car. I did repaint the engine, someone when they had it built, painted it the wrong shade of blue, so I painted it the correct 1967 Ford blue. Engine stand is not included. I will also put the exhaust manifolds in a box as well, they will not be installed in the car. The wheels have been on this car for a long time, they are Vintage ET Wheels, one of my favorites actually.
