Vehicle Detail
1976 Honda CVCC Civic - 1st Generation NO RESERVE Thank you for viewing Isabella (Bella), she has lived a very nice life, hard to believe she is 38 years old. These little CVCC Civics are really what put Honda on the map here in the states. Bullet proof cars, good quality, and they just run forever. They are very hard to find today, not often you see one out on the road, or even for sale. This Honda, was bought new in Mt. Veiw, CA, at Larry Hopkins Pontiac / Honda, by a gentleman named Billy Mays. I have tons of receipts dating back to 1979 on the car through the years, so it has nice service history. It has only had 3 owners, but the last owner had it for 30 years. Second owners name was Ariel Giarretto, she bought it in 1979. 3rd owners name was Joyce, she bought it around 1983. When Joyce bought this little Honda she named her Isabella, Bella for short. She was born in 1923, and she took ownership she was around 60. So this car has been adult driven its whole life. She lived in Palo Alto, CA, at the time, around 2000, moved to Corvallis, Oregon with her daughter. She had the car completely repainted in 1998, and had a few things fixed here and there to upgrade it, such as having the front seats recovered. I have one estimate for $5700 to paint the car inside and out. In 2006 I found a receipt, were someone backed into her drivers fender, $811 of damage, so she had the fender fixed and repainted a few other things touched up. In 2011, she was 87 years old, which was the last time she drove Bella. Her daughter took ownership of the car, I guess technically the 4th owner, but same family, and she drove Joyce around in the car because she couldn't drive anymore, kind of like Driving Ms. Daisy, but she got to ride in the front seat still. I am glad she took such nice car of this car. It is not a show car, but a very nice driver, which it always has been. Will you take it to a car show, probably so, she is a nice car. It does have 161,267 miles on it. Drive it, and you would think it was 61K, I did when I first saw it and drove it, but I do have a paper trail of receipts and it did roll over. To me it drives so nice, just a joy to drive, anywhere you drive it, especially with the sun out, it just glows, the yellow just attracts your eye right away. I get so many waves from all different types of folks, because of its looks. Not that often do you see a Daily driver Honda CVCC out on the road today. The body on the car is in nice shape, painted the original Y3 yellow in 1998, it just glows out in the sun. It looks very nice outside, when you get it in the garage, and under some lights, you can see some flaws here and there, you can notice little small dings, darn few because of the shaded light, but out in the sun, who don't hardly notice a thing. Most cars when you bring them inside you see other stuff as well, so not uncommon. The paint has a very nice gloss to it, and for the most part it looks very nice. Again, it is not show paint, you can see a little overspray here and there, and tape lines on some of the window gaskets from being taped off. If you took some time and elbow grease you could get some of it off, to me it looks great, and wouldn't bother. They took there time, masking off the original stickers under the hood in the doors etc. When owning a car like this, you use the best parts you can, especially nice original parts. It is not like restoring a 1965 Ford Mustang, were they reproduce every single part. When working on a car like this Honda, you have to use NOS parts, or restore what you have, it is like restoring a rare vintage motorcycle. The grill area is in excellent shape, very hard to find the honeycomb grill on these cars not broken, it is very clean. The bumpers are in nice shape, but they do have some surface rust on them just starting, they have some dings in them. The chrome on the car is in very nice shape for its age, all the lights are in good shape, a few do have small hairline stress cracks, but not bad enough were I would replace them or anything. The rear hatch button, chrome has some pitting. The Honda CVCC emblem on the rear of the hatch, has started to flake off. This is one that I would try to find a better one and replace it down the road. All the glass is in good shape, no chips or cracks. The side quarter windows do pop out at the corners, and the door glass rolls up and down nicely. There are a couple blisters in the paint that are starting, they have been there for some time I was told. There is one on the roof, drivers side, at the end of the piece of trim, and there are a few on the rear lift gate on passenger side, I show a picture of them. There are a couple chips that have been touched up, on above the drivers side fender lip. And there is a 3' scratch that has been touched up on the passenger side fender lip. Overall for a very nice driver, the car looks great. If you also notice it does have 2 of the original Honda Mud Flaps as well. The undercarriage of the car is amazing, no rust, no repairs, very solid. Everything looks like it should underneath, no signs of any major leaks, very clean for a car of this vintage, I was impressed, the rockers look very good as well. Interior is amazing for a Honda from 1976. The only alterations inside that I can see is that the front seats have been recovered. The rest of the interior, is original, headliner is nice, no rips or tears. The carpet is original to the car, it has aged some, but I would not replace it. The floor mats are original as well. All the interior lights work, map light, dome light. All the gauges are working, the heater works as well. What I found amazing, is that this Honda came with a Upgraded Real Wood Wheel, not simulated. The horn works, radio works, wipers all work, there is also a factory choke inside as well. The rear seat is original, at the back of it, there is a split/tear in the top. The spare tire area is excellent, amazing it still has its Factory Jack, and Honda Tools. Overall the interior is super clean for the age, a few light cracks in the dash, you can see them in the pictures. The seat belt light is staying on, even with the seatbelts connected, it will flicker on and off at times, must have something to do with the connections under the seats perhaps. Fuel gauge, temp gauge, all work. It is smoke free as well. The fuse box on the passenger side still has its lid, you can see the kick panel corner is broken in that picture as well. For the most part, and very friendly inviting interior. Mechanically this car is amazing, it has been cared for and serviced often. The CVCC engine runs like a top, no smoke, no burning oil, very clean. It starts right up, it likes to really warm up though before you can put the choke in. The engine runs very smooth. The transmission is a 5spd, and it shifts excellent, no chatter, very smooth. The brakes work good as well, disc upfront and drums in the rear. The tires are at about 70%, even wear all the way around, so I think they have around 20-25K left on them depending on how you drive.
