Update: 2/8/2014 Added photos of included toolkit, please scroll down for photos. Please visit my website with hundreds of photos and videos. http://hondaca95.weebly.com This is a meticulously restored 1965 Honda CA95 Benly, sometimes called the Baby Dream. No expense has been spared in its restoration, and an extraordinary amount of work has been invested in this motorcycle. The paint on this motorcycle is AMAZING! I assure you it is as close to new as humanly possible, and it has only one minor blemish and six minor details that are not original stock. Everything on this bike works as it should. It's ready to ride! •100 miles since restoration •Everything is adjusted and works--it starts, shifts, runs, and rides great •No smoky exhaust -- No smoke at ALL! •No leaks •No bugs left to work out •CLEAN Colorado title that matches the serial number on the frame When I see an ad that states “five miles since rebuild," I wonder how many hidden things are left to discover? There are no mysteries here. Don't miss the hundreds of photos and all the restoration details on this bike. Please visit my website with hundreds of photos and videos. http://hondaca95.weebly.com A good restoration and paint job begin with quality prep work. Every single body piece of this motorcycle was prepared properly from the beginning, blasted to bare metal, inside and out. This allowed me to see where Bondo was previously applied, so I could hammer out or plannish the dents by hand. All unwanted holes were TIG welded. The VIN number and other sensitive areas were masked, and the paint was chemically removed rather than using media blasting. The metal was primed with a two-part epoxy primer for superior grip and unmatched toughness. After manual dent removal (the right way) very little body filler was required before painting. This means the bike has been restored using quality techniques, and it is now as close to original as possible. No large chunks of Bondo are hiding under the paint, just waiting to crack or break off (which is so typical in sloppy restoration jobs these days)! The work was done the hard and slow way, but the right way. Everyone loves a great paint job, but most simply can't or won't go through the work required to do it right. Using best practices, each piece of this bike was painted individually, given time to dry, and then re-assembled later. This method yielded great results inside and out, and has the advantage of getting paint into all the nooks and crannies. There is no overspray from part to part. Each piece was given the time and attention it deserved. The photos show the quality of work performed. Notice that the inside of the frame, underneath the fenders, and inside the headlight bucket are just as bright and shiny as the outside. You are not likely to find another CA95 with a paint job like this! Even the “manufactured by Honda” sticker has been reproduced and is restoration correct! Look carefully at many re-painted bikes and you will see orange peel, sags and runs. Look carefully at the finish photos, this paint is nearly perfect! Please visit my website with hundreds of photos and videos. http://hondaca95.weebly.com The kickstand, centerstand, battery box, and air filter cover were powder coated black for durability. The seat was recovered at a local upholstery shop. The hardware was media tumbled and cleaned, and some re-plated as necessary. (Yes, Phosphoric acid dipped, and Zinc electroplated so it looks new.) All the aluminum trim was polished individually to a chrome-like shine. MORE HIGHLIGHTS: •New brake linings •Some new Wheel Bearing seals •Some New Cables •Gas Tank Hydrochloric Acid cleaned, flushed, looks like new inside •New NOS battery (On a 6V maintainer) •New Mirrors (original CA95 style) Engines are the heart of the machine, but many don’t have the experience or the tools to overhaul a motorcycle engine right! This engine was overhauled and restored by a certified aircraft mechanic. It was disassembled, cleaned, inspected, repaired as necessary and reassembled with all new gaskets and seals. By clean, I mean clean! Any part could have been placed on your wife’s pillowcase and she wouldn’t have known it had been there. Look at the assembly photos! Engine Restoration Highlights •All new gaskets •All new shaft seals •New Factory NOS pistons, 1.00mm oversize •New Factory NOS ring set, 1.00mm oversize •Cylinders bored 1.00mm oversize (Precision cycle) •New Intake valves •New Exhaust valves •All valve seats cut, resurfaced, and lapped •Head masked and media blasted, acid etched, ultrasonically cleaned •Starter rebuilt (commutator, brushes, bearings, etc.) •Countershaft shift fork replaced •One gear set replaced as a matched pair •Crankshaft oil plug removed, passages cleaned, re-plugged •All outside cases polished •Fresh carb rebuild, acid dipped, ultrasonically cleaned •Gascolator overhauled, new seals, polished •New Air Filter, Fuel line and Intake Rubber Hose The following 6 items are NOT stock: The neutral safety indicator light is green instead of the stock (for 1965) red color. I prefer the green since it contrasts with the red paint job, and is the modern standard color for a neutral light. Exhaust pipes. They are aftermarket finned pipes. THE PIPES are modified to bolt directly onto the CA95 with no modifications to the bike itself! You can literally unbolt these and bolt on stock pipes. (If you can find any that aren’t rusted out, or any originals that look worthy of the condition of the bike itself, which is why the current ones are aftermarket) The other advantage is they sound GREAT! Grips: They are thick foam which helps with the vibration inherent to this vintage bike. The result is a much more comfortable riding experience, as I have other restored CA95s that have original grips to make a comparison with. Tail Light Lens: The tail light lens has an aftermarket “blue dot” installed that is reminiscent of the 1940’s. It is tasteful and looks great, however it is not stock. I have a brand new taillight lens I will include at no charge if you prefer a stock lens. Centerstand Handle: The centerstand pull handle on the left hand side of the bike has a small engine piston tastefully attached as a decoration. I think it looks great and has gotten lots of comments, but to be perfectly stock, it would need to be removed. Centerstand and Kickstand Color choice: On the original bike they would have been painted red. Since the paint on the bike is a top quality base coat, clear coat over epoxy primer, I was concerned that it would scuff and chip under the abuses of the job they perform, and look lackluster next to the highly polished paint. I knew it would fare better as powdercoat black finish, and I hope you agree. There is one blemish on this bike, hidden under the gas cap. After fuel sloshed around in the tank, it wicked up into the cork gasket material under the gas cap. The potent fuel fumes started to damage the paint where it came in contact with it. In order to stop the paint from bubbling up, I cut and removed a small ring of finish paint from under the gas cap. The epoxy primer is still in place underneath the cap, and I replaced the cork with a modern rubber seal to prevent this problem from recurring. Fortunately, the gas cap covers the majority of this blemish, but sadly, it isn’t 100% perfect. Terms: I’m confident that you will be happy with this bike. I know it is difficult to bid on things that are sight unseen. I recommend you come in person to see the bike and pick it up. I will demonstrate the bike to your satisfaction, and perform any tests you wish (compression test, etc.) with you present. I require a $500 deposit via Paypal from the winning bidder within 2 days of the auction end. The deposit once received will afford you 30 DAYS to come see the bike, complete the transaction, and pick it up or the deposit money will be forfeited. If during the 30 day pickup window, you or your agent come see the bike IN PERSON and you are unsatisfied FOR ANY REASON and decide not to buy the bike, I will immediately refund your deposit money and I reserve the right to re-advertise the bike for sale. If at any time you decide to back out of the transaction without you or your agent seeing the bike IN PERSON, I will consider this not acting in good faith, and will NOT REFUND THE DEPOSIT. (you bid, never saw the bike and changed your mind) If you cannot come in person, and you choose to have the bike shipped sight unseen, (and don’t see it in person before the sale is complete) I will not refund any money after the bike leaves my premises for any reason. I will not arrange shipping. If you want to use a shipping company, it is your responsibility to make all arrangements. I am not responsible for any damage to the bike after it leaves my house. After the bike leaves my house the sale is FINAL and no refunds will be given. After the 30 day pickup window has lapsed, I reserve the right to re-advertise the bike, and keep any forfeited deposit money. I have tried to make it easy for you to have the opportunity to see what you are buying with no risk of your deposit money if you act in good faith by personally viewing the bike before paying the balance. This is a top notch restoration, however this bike is nearly 50 years old and is being sold with NO WARRANTY is expressed or implied. Clean and clear Colorado title will be signed and transferred to you, and bike may leave my premises only after funds have cleared my bank. Because of this, I require cash, or wire transfer. Do not bring a cashier’s check. If you wish to pay with a cashier’s check, it will have to be drawn at your bank branch in the Denver area with me present to protect against fraudulent checks. (I only trust a cashier’s check I personally watched a bank teller place in your hands) Buyer shall sign a bill of sale stating the terms of the sale. Placing a bid on this bike constitutes agreement and adherence with these terms.
