Vehicle Detail

I did not create this car, I bought it 2 years ago and have been driving it around town since then. If you are wondering about the exterior, I finally had enough of the peace-and-love graffiti and did some amateur paint stripping, which is why it looks a bit disheveled. The body and engine cover are from a 1956 Bug, the doors are from 1962, and the chassis is from 1970. The front bonnet and all 4 fenders are fiberglass aftermarket items, and the front disc brakes are from a Karmann Ghia. The batteries are T-145's (the largest of the common golf cart battery sizes), only a few years old. In cold weather, it get just over 20 miles per charge, but in the summer, it can reach 40, and the rest of the year, 30 miles is average. Now for the defects: **The circuit breaker on the front dash must be turned on before turning the key - my wife did not know this and the controller blew. The replacement controller has the peak current turned way down - it is an Alltrax that can be modified through a serial port, I just haven't tried. The model of controller is the same as the one in it when I bought it, so with full current, it should reach 45mph, and if you have enough room and time, it will top out at 55. **There is a slow leak of brake fluid from the center of the car, but I have not hunted for it source since it just means it brakes harder. **Part of the 12V system got disconnected when I was debugging the dc-dc converter, so it only has headlights and wipers working currently - the blinker relay is an aftermarket unit and I have no idea which wire goes where! **Other oddments: the driver's door is hard to close, the seats are *welded in place* (!?), and the radio is crap - if you need one, I will include the stereo I have as a replacement, and another "if you want it": a wide-angle Wink-style rear view mirror, since the original is tiny (as is the outside mirror!) If you have questions, please ask. Let me know if you need any specific pictures of any of its components. One more thing: if it doesn't sell "as is", I might consider parting it out. Thanks for getting this far down the page!
