1971 DATSUN 510 VINTAGE RACE CAR A CALIFORNIA PLATED RACE CAR WITH SCCA LOG BOOK REBELLO RACING BUILT 2.2L FULL DYNO SHEET REBELLO BUILT MIKUNI CARS IN STORAGE FOR YEARS A ONE OF A KIND OPPORTUNITY HOW OFTEN CAN YOU BUY A CALIFORNIA PLATED RACE CAR IT'S PATINA IS FROM DAYTONA, SEBRING, HOMESTEAD AND MOROSO IT HAS SOME BUMPS AND BRUISES WHICH ALL ADDS TO ITS UNIQUE HISTORY THIS IS SOLID VINTAGE RACE CAR WITH A LOW HOUR REBELLO MOTOR THIS IS A RACE CAR IT IS NOT REALLY SUITED FOR STREET DRIVING Up for bid is a very rare find a 1971 Datsun 510 race car that has been plated in California. This car has a Rebello racing built motor with virtually 0 hours. This engine is a 2.2L bottom end with a L series head, it has dual Mikuni carbs which were also built by Rebello. It has a limited slip rear end and am told a 5 speed transmission. The car was built in Florida several years ago from the ground up to do primarily SCCA Road Racing. The interior wiring harness was removed and replaced with a custom racing harness with only needed wiring, which includes brake light and head light's. The kill switch is on right side of roll cage is your key to turn off all power as required by SCCA as a safety item. The start box has four working switches. Suspension is rock solid and fairly trick and perhaps to hard for street driving. It has NISMO springs and Tokiko shocks, camber adjuster plate and strut tower brace. The front was set at 1 degree negative camber for cornering and the rear is slotted at 0 degrees. The car has a 3.90 limited slip differential The MOMO wheel is removable, it has a 7000 RPM tach as well as an original DATSUN factory 510 Tach which is in/op The car has been stripped from all excess weight , it has a racing seat and racing harness as well as full roll cage. This car was raced in Florida and comes with SCCA vehicle logbook which shows every race this car has been in. She has a few bumps and brusies but is a sound vintage race car with a full race suspension and solid under carriage. This cars patina comes from DAYTONA, SEBRING, HOMESTEAD, MOROSO, it would not be much of a challenge to make this body look like new again, this could be the ideal BRE tribute car. The body has a few bumps but is very solid underneath This is a vintage race car not a vintage street car that just so happens to have a California plate. The story of the car is this it was built and raced in Florida and then stored for many years. It was shipped out to California in 2005 and a brand new Rebello 2.2 Circle track motor installed, it has dual Mikuni carbs also built by Rebello. I called Rebello direct and asked what he had done to the engine. He did not remember this exact motor as it was done 9 years ago. His response was that if the engine was put on a Dyno that meant they had spent a lot of money as the cost to Dyno the engine is another 7 to 8 hundred dollars and you would only do that on a trick motor. This car does come with the Dyno sheet. A lot of money was spent on this car to freshen her up from her days in Florida. A lot of money was spent on the motor alone, estimated at around $7,000 just for motor, carbs, dyno etc. The engine fires up and runs like a race motor should. It does needs race gas to run properly. Considering this car has spent a lot of time sitting the engine is very tight and very powerful. The car fires right up and sounds very strong, it does not like to idle. Please understand this is a race car not a street car. I was told it has a 200SX 5 speed transmission but I cannot say for sure.If you are looking for a pristine show car that is cleaner than it came from the Datsun factory that you and your buddies can stand around and look at, this is not your car. If you are looking for a actual vintage race car with some battle scares from tracks like Daytona, Sebring, Moroso and Homestead and fully understand this is a race car not a show car, this is the car for you. This car was brought to California and titled as a 1971 Datsun 510. It has a California plate on the back but has never been used as a street car. It has been in storage since around 2006. The car has a few hundred dollars in back fees to get a current sticker but that would be if you wanted to drive it on the street. This is really not a street car at all but can be driven on the street in California if back DMV fees are paid. QUICK RELEASE MOMO WHEEL This really is not a street car but a race car. LOOK AT WHAT JAY LENO SAY'S ABOUT THE DATSUN 510 "IF YOU GET AN OPPORTUNITY BUY ONE THEY WILL ONLY GO UP IN VALUE" CLICK THE ARROW TO WATCH It has period correct American Racing Libre wheels and some 60 series tires that are old and cracked, it has never been raced with this engine. So to sum up what you are buying it is a 1971 Datsun 510 Race car with a SCCA log book, this has a Rebello Racing built race motor with hardly any use. The engine was built and the car was put in storage Put some fresh race gas and fresh tires and go racing. Not a lot of cars that have raced at Daytona and Sebring have a California plate. This car has been in storage for several years, the title that was issued in 2005 was lost so we are in the process of getting a duplicate "TITLE ONLY" which will take approximately 2 weeks. To drive the car on the street the back fees would need to be paid even though it was never used. This is for California bidders that would be trying to drive this on the road only. For out of state it will be sold with a Bill of Sale and winning bidder will get the duplicate TITLE ONLY when issued in a few weeks, it is in process with the California DMV.
