Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a really sweet 1962 Plymouth Valiant V - 200 2 door coupe! This is an automatic transmission car with manual steering and brakes - this car is bullet-proof! This was Plymouth's entry into the small car market. When Ford came out with the Falcon and Chevrolet had the Corvair, Plymouth came out with the Valiant. This is the RARE 2 door coupe that has a 225 c.i. slant six inline 6 cylinder motor. It is the ORIGINAL motor. It cranks right up and runs this little jewel down the road at 70 mph with no problem. The rear main seal and oil pan gasket have been replaced. It is matched to the original push button 904 automatic transmission. It is dash-mounted push button and is really neat. If you never had the experience to drive one with the push button transmission, they are a real trip! No leaks of any kind to the motor and transmission. I bought this from a friend who had put lots of money into it. Here is all that was done: the original radiator was re-cored with copper (cost $400) along new antifreeze, new temperature sending unit, new thermostat and gasket, new starter, new coil, new points, plugs and condenser, new cap and rotor, new plug wires. New master cylinder, new front wheel cylinders, new brake shoes all around. All new shocks installed, front end checked - all tight - and front end alignment done. The gas tank was removed and cleaned, fuel lines replaced as needed. New paint within 1 year ago, battery within 1 year ago, 2 new front tires, 90% tread on rear tires. Interior-wise, it has new sun visors, seat covers, carpet, new weatherstripping around the doors and trunk. It has all the original steel trim around it. The trim is not perfect - it has some dings and dents - but it's all there none the less! The trim is not in bad shape but I don't want people to think it is like new. This is a rare car to find parts for - so cherish the trim! Even the trunk has been detailed! This is a rare NO RUST car!! Now to "What does this car need?" section; it needs a headliner installed ($100), needs both door and rear panels redone (approx. $300) and the new carpet re-stretched. Carpet is new but needs to be placed better in floor and under door sills. Does not need to be replaced! This Plymouth Valiant V-200 has quite the cult following - and for good reason! This was the start of the Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth space-age look to their cars and Plymouth's initial small car entry in the marketplace! And in the color it is, it really does get noticed! This was originally a white car with blue interior but this bright blue paint is more attention-grabbing for sure! The door panels and headliner are the extent of what this car needs. It will drive down the road at 70 mph just as straight and smooth as you could hope for. Just be ready for all the "Thumbs Ups" you will receive! This is being sold at NO RESERVE - someone will own this at the end of the auction so DON'T MISS THIS RARE LITTLE GEM!! It even comes with the original owners manual and part of the original build sheet! I will reserve the right to close this auction for local sale.
