Vehicle Detail

Thanks for checking out this rare motorcycle. Here is your chance to own a rare, seldom seen motorcycle, possibly the only one like it in America. There may be lots of Voskhods prowling around eastern Europe and Russia, but they were never commercially imported into the United States. THey were however imported into England and Australia under the Cossack motorcycle brand, imported by Astra. I bought this bike years ago from the serviceman who bought it new, and brought it back with him after serving overseas. You could search every bikeshop and barn in America and probably never find another one of these bikes. The number of Voskhods brought into America can probably be counted on one hand. Based on THAT criteria, I'd say this is a rare bike for the American buyer. So, on to the description: 1992 Voskhod 3M-01, built by ZID in Russia. Very well built, all steel including side covers, though not terribly heavy. Is a 175cc 2-stroke motorcycle. YES, IT RUNS !! And shifts fine too. Very easy to work on, easy access to most componants and many parts available on eBay. Odometer says has original 35.9 kilometers on it, that roughly just under 23 miles on the bike. The tires still have the new nipples on tread. The bike was bought new, put on a ship and brought to America, where it was stored for years in a garage without being titled or ridden. Bike was sold to me, I owned it briefly, and sold it to a friend who had it for 8 years and stored it in a cargo container. The last 7 years, I've been begging him to sell it back to me and I finally have it back. Previous attempts to get the bike running were unsuccessful until now. The bike had some carburetor issues which I eliminated by replacing the carb with another new, genuine Pekar K-65 carb. and a new NGK spark plug. The fuel tank had some surface rust in it. The tank was removed and I had the tank interior professionally cleaned and coated to seal it and prevent any future rust. I disassembled, cleaned, reassembled and tested the petcock, which now works 100%. Bike has new fuel line and inline filter and does start right up with a few kicks. The tires are the original "Made in USSR" tires. I recently removed the wheels and replaced the rim strips and tubes, and put the original tires back on. THIS BIKE IS RIDABLE !! Road tests locally showed the bike runs well, accelerates well, and transmission does shift well. Since the bike has been stored for so many years, there are a number of knicks and scratches in the paint. Some of the chrome is pitting, especially on the handle bars. The switches on the bars appear to work, except high/low beam and I'm not sure if that's a switch problem or if it needs a bulb. The bike will need some directional bulbs, but the running light and brake lght work and both brake light switches work fine. There are a couple of things missing from the bike. First of all, the left side cargo rack support strut is missing. But that's no big deal, a local fabricator could make one to match the other side and you'd never know the difference. Also, the left rear footpeg is off, but is in the bike, is stored behind the left side cover. The kick start lever rubber pad was missing and I've replaced it with a new pad for a Suzuki. Most people wouldn't mind but there are some purists out there that would want OEM russian pad, so mentioning in the spirit of full disclosure. The ignition switch is stuck in the "on" position, which is no big deal because the bike is batteryless. During the roadtest, we discovered that the speedo cable turns but the speedometer isn't cooperating. Speedo needle twiches and bounces a little but doesn't indicate speed. Also, the kickstart lever return spring is weak, you have to lift the lever with your foot when you kick it but otherwise works fine and doesn't hinder starting or riding the motorcycle. Note: the rubber air intake tube from the carb to the airbox is missing, however it doesn't prevent the bike from running well. I have a filter ordered for the bike, more on that in a minute. Also, I do not have a title for this motorcycle, but titles are available thru multiple outlets, some states easier than others. Titling is up to the buyer as some buyers may not want to bother titling as I've had some interest in this bike by Ural and Enfield dealers. I will sell it with a bill of sale. Extras going with the bike: I have a few parts ordered for the bike that are going with it once they arrive. I've ordered an engine gasket kit, a clutch pack, and carb overhaul kits as well as a 200 page repair manual. All ordered from Russia, may take a while to get here and I hope they don't get lost on the way. If bike is sold before they arrive, I'll gladly ship them to new owner. I do have an airfilter coming for the bike, a small pod filter that clamps onto the back of the carb, coming from California, will be here in a day or two, that too is going with the bike. So, I've got the bike listed as dual purpose. It's equipped with a fully enclosed chain, has the rear mudflap, and sort of on road/off road semi-knobby tires. Delivery and Shipping: I'll deliver the bike within 100 miles of Cape Coral, Florida 33991. Anything beyond that is responsiblity of buyer. Payment: I prefer CASH. Due to the high rate of counterfit cashiers checks and money orderes these days, I can't trust a cashiers checks or money order and buyer must wait until they clear. Only money orders considered are US Postal Money Orders. However, cash deposit directly into my Wells Fargo account is an option as well. PAYPAL is fine with me if eBay will allow you to pay for the whole bike with Paypal. I may be wrong but I think eBay prohibits that, but you could try, I certainly don't mind if you use Paypal. We're offering this bike with a BUY IT NOW, but don't be afraid to MAKE AN OFFER !! Refunds: None, look the bike over well before buying, being sold "as is". Again, this bike does run. I could not post a video of it running here on eBay, but may be able to get one together for serious buyers and post on YouTube. Email me directly for that, serious buyers only, please don't waste my time if you're just a curious bike enthusiast. keywords: ignore these, they're just here to help you find my ad !!
