This is a great car but I've been tasked with selling it on behalf of my elderly father who's health has been in decline the past few years, he and mom are looking to downsize and move north and it's basically just surplus to everyone's needs at this point. He purchased it from the original owner upon retirement after decades in the local aerospace industry close to 20 years ago. A review of his saved paperwork shows the car had an odometer reading of 21k when he bought it in '95 and it shows 71.8k now so he wasn't racking up the mileage. My recent experience with it (his son) is from taking it on a 900 mile round trip to San Francisco a few weeks ago and in terms of anything noteworthy regarding the car, it was a non-event. So with the preceding as a preface, I can tell you that it tracks straight going down the road, doesn't pull to the left or right when hands are off the wheel, and it stops smoothly. Tires all match, including the spare, have no cracks and look to be good for at least another 30k in miles. Engine is very quiet, powerful and doesn't smoke. No oil leaks anywhere. Engine coolant reading doesn't read any higher than the normal "N" mark on the gauge -- most of the time a little less. No coolant leakage anywhere. No corrosion anywhere around the battery area. Power steering is smooth, quiet and doesn't leak. Shifts fine. Suspension and shocks feel solid. There's no rust anywhere other than a ding on the left rear wheel well edge that broke the paint. There are also two small black painted triangular metal inserts on the exterior of the rear passenger windows that have some rust bubbling but these look easily replaceable and aren't a part of the body of the car per se. Some scuffing and faint dings on sides commensurate from wayward shopping carts over the years. As far as I can tell, everything electrically related to the car works as it should. Power seats, power windows, power locks, power sunroof, lights, wipers, signals, horn -- all check okay. Heater works but the AC seems like it should be blowing a little cooler than it does. All gauges work fine. Wood work still beautiful except for lifting veneer on a change holder/ ashtray door in front next to parking brake. Dad was/ is a non-smoker. Upholstery (I believe the seats are leather) shows no rips, tears, open seams or failure of the cushioning/ padding underneath -- just some very light generalized staining here and there. Headliner and visors are perfect. Tan colored carpeting has some old dried staining but Dad has mats over that. Chrome inside and out has no rust. Registered and smogged through July of 2014. In summary, I think this car pretty much typifies what you can expect out of a 22 year old car owned by an older retiree here in Southern California. I don't know what else to say about it other than that if I had an inquiry from someone back east inquiring about driving it across the country then I'd say just top up the tank and go. Pop's always been a type A engineer sort of guy and I'd be surprised if any of he and mom's cars were less than ready for a long distance road trip tomorrow. Finally, in the pictures if you were to look at them with a magnifying glass, those few areas that might be taken as reflected sunlight could also be dried car wax that wasn't properly detailed out.
