The Nomad is best remembered in its two-door 195557 form, and was considered a halo model during its three-year production as a two-door station wagon.Though generally credited to General Motors design domo Harley Earl, its actual creators were Chevrolet studio head Clare MacKichan and stylist Carl Renner. If you would like to discuss a purchase, GIVE US A CALL815-953-6843 Owned by a Tri-5 Chevy collector and his wife, this Nomad was purchased in California from the original owners family in 1971 and it is being sold only because of a death in the family. The car was driven back to Illinois where they began a restoration that was completed in the mid 70's. They then took the car to the Nomad convention in Detroit Michigan, drove back home, parked it in the garage and put a cover on it. In the following years it has been to some local car shows and Sunday drives, but it has not been driven, started, or taken out of the garage in over 30 years, until this week. This is a rare Nomad equipped with factory air conditioning, power brakes, power steering, power seat and power windows. Restored to the original color combination of Shoreline Beige/Glacier Blue, the paint is starting to show it's age. The interior was also redone to original and is in excellent condition, as is the exterior chrome and trim. The original engine is long gone and was replaced by an early/mid 70's 350 V-8. The car was started for the first time in over 30 years after a qualified Chevy mechanic did a complete inspection. The engine did start and it does run, but it will not stay running, he thinks it's probably a fuel pump, fuel line or carburetor issue. This car would be a great find for a Chevy collector looking to bring it back to show condition. It is being sold as-is, as shown and would need to be trailered home and because the car does not stay running, we can't say what works and what does not.
