Nice 1970 Caddy Deville Convertible Up For Auction With NO RESERVE101k original miles, 472 V8. I bought the Caddy in from an older gentleman who owned it since the early 80's and told me the mileage is original. My mechanic told me it may very well be the original mileage considering the overall mechanical and cosmetic condition. I've put under 2000 miles on the Caddy since I've had it, about three years. Mechanical: since I've had the Caddy I haven't had to do much. I've done a new brake booster and master cylinder, upgraded distributor with electronic ignition (no points to change), new generator with voltage regulator, new belts and a full tuneup. The previous owner had the transmission rebuilt in 2002 and a complete exhaust system done a couple of years previous to that. The wide whitewalls have good tread but starting to show some dry rot, good for local cruising but not long trips. The power windows all work, the power top motor works but the switch has broken, I put it up and down manually. The a/c compressor does not have a belt on it, I never looked into it. The motor is nice and quiet, no noises, even on cold mornings. The last time I had the Caddy out the brakes felt a bit spongy.Cosmetic: the Caddy is in nice "driver" condition. The last time I put the roof up the glass back window came unglued and tore the surrounding canvas. It was a cold day and I did not give the top enough time to stretch out, it had been down and under the boot cover for months. I took the above pix last summer. The back window was undamaged but the canvas top needs to be replaced, the glass back window can be re-used. The boot cover is in good condition, it matches the interior. I have a good tarp with strong bungee cords to cover the back window area if the Caddy is going to be shipped. The windshield had a rock hit the center when I was on the highway a few weeks ago and has an 18-20 inch crack now, so she will need a windshield as well. The combination of the roof ripping and less than a week afterwards having windshield damaged told me that it's time to find her a new home. The paint is about 20 years old, it's a good "ten-footer", she looks better in the pix than in person. About six inches along the bottom of the passenger rear quarter near the bumper is starting to bubble up. The chrome on the bumpers is dull but no rust, dents or peeling. The underside of the car is strong, floors and trunk good, one 12 inch square area on the passenger front floor has had new metal put in and the frame is solid. Overall she presents well as seen in the pix. The interior is good overall, seats are nice, no cracks on dash or door panels and the carpet is a bit faded but not worn or ripped. Modern CD player installed in the dash by the previous owner. She's not a showcar by any means but a nice respectable driver.All the directional/brake/turn signal/headlights work as well as wipers and horn. Engine always starts easily, even after sitting for a month or two. Cruises nicely on the highway, holds the road perfectly. Runs very strong, 350HP 472 V8 moves this big girl with LOTS of power, idles perfectly, shifts smoothly, stops easily with the disc brakes and the suspension is luxurious. No leaks, garage floor always dry when I take her out. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the Caddy is for sale locally and I'm open to reasonable buy it now offers as well.
