Vehicle Detail
1984 Porsche 944 For Sale. This car was a custom order from Porsche in 1984, and has option codes C00 H11 Y11 220 409 430 431 441. The H11 is the one that makes this car special- it was a factory non-standard option package that came with fuchs alloy wheels, upgraded suspension and sway bars, sunroof delete, leather trim, and the turbo-style rear valence. Extremely cool car that I'm sad to see go. Buyer arranges pickup/shipping. The Good: It is a Euro/Rest-of-World model with VIN WP0ZZZ94ZEN407598 ( New Sachs clutch kit installed (pressure plate, clutch disc, throwout bearing, resurfaced flywheel, new flywheel bolts/pressure plate bolts)New Master and Slave clutch cylinders, and new hydraulic lines/fluidEngine completely overhauled:-Head has all new valves, guides, seats, and all springs checked and replaced as needed. Machined, cleaned, etc to brand new condition.-All main bearings checked and replaced as needed, piston walls checked, pistons and rings checked, crankshaft balanced, all internal main engine parts show little or no wear.-Camshaft bearings checked, camshaft cleaned, seals replaced. -Front and rear main seals replaced, head gasket, camshaft housing gasket, oil pan gasket, balance shaft gaskets and seals all replaced-O-rings replaced everywhere-Oil pump sealed to the block with Loctite 574 as per factory service manual-Everything carefully torqued to factory specs, engine starts and runs with full compression on all cylindersSteering rack re-seal kit installed, power steering pump rebuilt with new seals and bearings, high pressure hoses replaced as neededCoolant flushed and hoses replaced as neededNew timing belt, balance belt, tensioners, and rollers replaced as neededNew Alternator belt, Factory A/C delete kit installedThe car has special option code H11- or a factory-installed kit including the sunroof delete, upgraded suspension and sway bar, rear limited-slip-differential, Fuchs alloy wheels, turbo rear valence, and fog lights. The suspension has been overhauled with new bushings on the sway bar, swingarms, and mounts, and new tie rod ends.New Dunlop tires, sipe'd for improved winter tractionNew custom-fit (made specifically for the Recaro seats in an 84' 944, not cheap, general fit) seat covers.Rear hatch professionally tinted- keeps the inside cooler by a LOTNew front and rear hood/hatch strutsNew air and Porsche oil filtersAll fluids changed regularlyCustom fit dash coverTHE BAD:The oil pump will not prime on the engine, I've been at it for 4 months solid, and I can't afford a new one to try. The one currently installed worked at 5bar oil pressure every startup before I overhauled the engine. If you're looking for a "why is he selling" reason, this is it. I'm a student, and I just can't afford to throw any more money at this beautiful car. I also no longer have a garage to work in, as my buddy with a garage is moving out of state next week. :(There is a fist-sized dent in the nose panel. I purchased a replacement salvage panel, but it is not installed or painted (just primed black). The new panel will come with the car. There are some paint chips and some scratches typical of a 29 year old car, but nothing life -altering.The front valence was cracked when I bought it, so I replaced it with a salvage one. It isn't painted the right color yet, it's more of a silver. The car has a reconstructed title- a previous owner got into an accident that munched the driver's side door. The frame of the car is straight (I had it checked when I bought it) and the door was replaced long before I bought it. The body is straight and as I bought it to restore, a reconstructed title wasn't a problem for me. OTHER DETAILS:I'm really sad to see it go. If I had the time or resources to fix the oil pump problem (believe me... I've tried) I would keep this car and drive it every day. That was the goal with all of the work put into it, and it's a tragedy to let it go. For someone with the time or resources to solve the oil pressure issue, this car has character and drive-ability on the street or the track. It's a Porsche, and I've always treated it as such.Let me know if there are any questions!
