1964 Vintage VW Type 1 Classic Volkswagen Beetle Bug 1964 Classic Vintage VW Volkswagen Beetle. This 49 year old clean Type 1 Bug was purchased in San Diego California 2 ½ years ago and is still used as a daily driver. Engine was recently upgraded to a peppy 1600cc mated to a freshly rebuilt transmission. We've logged 3,613 miles on this rebuilt tranny. Gear ratio was changed from 4.37 to 3.88 to improve an already economical vehicle and improve/increase its cruising speed. Less than 6000 miles on various type of roads including daily commuting through steep mountain roads in the last 2 ½ years. This vehicle has been very well maintained with receipts available upon request. List of improved and new parts include: New Electronic Ignition with Bosch Ignitor, Rebuilt Transmission with Performance stick shift, New 12V Euromax Horn and New horn contact ring kit, 12V Wiper Motor, New Wheel cylinder, New Axle seals, New CV Boot kits, New Ignition Wire set, New Fuel Pump and Filter, New Accessory Drive Belt, Dash Fuel Gauge, New Fresh Air Hose, All New Heat Bellows and Heat Exchange tubes, New signal light lenses and light bulbs. Over $5K in improved parts and labor. The above description is based on physical receipts (on hand), owners (friend) description, and personal observations. Fenders and engine cover have been refreshed with new B/C paint coat (needs buffing) for more durability and better look! Steering Wheel has been refreshed with several coats of Ivory White paint. Great sound system with powerful sound amplifier located in trunk. Seats in outstanding condition with new carpeting. No noticeable rust other that some spotty surface rust under the vehicle. Overall this Bug shows very well and in my opinion should receive a complete show quality paint job within the next 2-3 years and be preserved for the next 50 years. This Beetle looks beautiful as is. The vehicle maintains the old bug look and has the beautiful and classic Clear Glass Headlamp covers, a deleted feature in 1967 and rarely seen on many Classic or Vintage Beetles. This VW engine and transmission combination responds very well, feels powerful and does extremely well over any type of road. It has not failed to navigate the wet, icy, snowy mountain roads of Washington State in the last two winters. It currently idles in a well insulated garage where it waits for its new owner. The bug can remain garaged for up to two weeks from auction closing time or until funds clear. Vehicle has a clear title. An easy $500 deposit is due immediately following the auction closing via PayPal (required). Balance due in full within 7 days from auction closing time via a major recognizable United States bank Cashiers check, Bank Wire transfer or in Person (cash). Vehicle and title will not be released until funds clear (Cashiers check funds can take the bank up to 10 days to clear). Of course, vehicle is Sold As Is and requires the new owner to make all necessary pickup arrangements.
