IS PROUD TO PRESENT... A BEAUTIFUL 1961 FORD THUNDERBIRD CONVERTIBLE AT NO RESERVE!!! Every car we offer here on Ebay has a story. Here is this one's... The gentleman who owned this car bought it brand new as a Christmas present for his wife in 1960. In early 1961, she unfortunately passed away. He vowed to never sell it. True to his word, he kept it until his recent passing at age 95. Needless to say, he cherished this car and the fond memories it brought him. He only put an average of 2,000 miles per year on "her"! Are You Ready To Be The Next Caretaker Of This Rare Beauty? Are you looking for a stone solid V8 convertible that’s ready for cruising? How about one with some of the best styling cues to come from Detroit in the ‘60s? Worried about ruining your “good” car by pouring on some miles? Consider the Big Bad Bird shown here: 390/330 HP V8 Big Block EngineEngine, Transmission & Rear End Are OriginalNever Been In An AccidentNo Signs Of Any Body Repair Swing Away Steering Power WindowsPower SteeringPower BrakesSpeedometer WorksOdometer WorksAll Lights WorkHeater Works Radio WorksWipers WorkHorn WorksGas Gauge WorksTemperature Gauge Works All Power Windows WorkAll Glass Is ExcellentAll Chrome Is In Exceptional ConditionSpinner Wire Wheel Hub Caps (Original)White Wall TiresOriginal Color Original 1 Owner!Speedster Tonneau CoverVery Reasonable Reserve! Let's get the bad stuff out of the way: Body Has Some Minor Chips & ScratchesPaint Has Some Amateur Touch Up SpotsShould Have Complete Paint Job Interior Is Original But Old & Dirty Looking Several Cracks In DashClock Doesn't Work I had the Top Partially Working & Now It Won't See Note Below About Top The Trunk Is As Solid As The Floors Has An Exhaust Leak Evidence Of Oil On Oil PanTires Are MediocreEngine Compartment Needs Tons Of Tender Loving Care See Pics for All ImperfectionsDriver, Not Show Quality Call Me With Questions! The Good News Is That These Issues Just Might Make This Classic Bird Affordable!(NOTE: I personally drove this car over 50 miles and she went down the road straight withno "shimmies" of any kind. She didn't overheat and the brakes worked fine.)When we push the switch the trunk flips back and then a "flap" swings up. At this point, the convertible top is supposed to automatically go down in to the trunk. It does not. Instead of trying to figure out what's wrong, we simply removed 2 Cotter pins which released the pumps. We then manually lowered the top in to the trunk. Finally, we re-installed the "speedster" tonneau cover. It too is in great shape and gives the car a whole new look. Thanks, Parker. There were only just over 10,000 of these beauties made and soldfor almost $5,000 with Tax! That was a lot of money in 1961! Featuring a super low and long profile restrained trim, aerodynamics were definitely a strong styling cue from the smooth grille to the full width "Jet Exhaust” taillights.Let’s start underneath on this beauty. Those are all original, panels from nose to tail! There’s no rot or serious issues that will prevent you from enjoying this car for years to come – not too many 50 plus year old cars can claim that! Whatever steering and brake components needed to be changed were done so as to make for comfortable and worry free cruising. The transmission (Power Glide) shifts smoothly and the axle does its job without complaint. The suspension, as it was when new, is still one of the most isolated rides on the road! The best looking configuration for the third generation ‘bird has to be with the top down and the speedster tonneau in place. Dropped from assembly line production for 1964, the option was popular enough for Ford to offer the cover through the parts department. It took the already long deck and extended it all the way to the backs of the front seats, making it look like a sleek two seater. The 390 rumbles under the hood, topped with a 4 barrel carb and a fresh tune up. Power steering makes the car maneuverable and power brakes bring it to a quick halt. While the paint is mediocre at best, the Corinthian White is a classic color, especially paired with the Red interior, and it just exudes sporty class. Ready to take off in a car that’s perfect for someone looking for a cool driver? Enjoy it as is, and tinker with it to make it sharper! It’s hard to find a car in this condition: A real runner with great bones and TONS of potential! Hop on board the Jet-Aged styling and motor off! CARS LIKE THIS DON'T GO UN-NOTICED...SO MAKE SURE YOU ARE READY FOR THE ATTENTION!!! **Please note that no car is perfect. It has been driven and as such has wear from being on the road. I would suggest coming to see it in person before bidding so you know the degree of wear of the vehicle. I listed this vehicle to the best of my ability. However, I am only human and could have missed a flaw. So please if you have any concerns contact me first. Thank you! IF YOU NEED MORE PICTURES PLEASE CONTACT ME AND I WILL SEND THEM TO YOU. ALSO CHECK BACK.... I LIST CLASSIC CARS WEEKLY!!! THANKS AND GOOD LUCK BIDDING!!! BUYER RESPONSIBLE FOR VEHICLE PICK-UP OR SHIPPING. A $500 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT THROUGH PAYPAL IS DUE WITHIN 24 HOURS OF AUCTION ENDING AND FULL PAYMENT WITHIN 7 DAYS. PLEASE ASK ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING. VEHICLE IS BEING SOLD AS-IS WITH NO WARRANTY. YOU CAN INSPECT THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO BIDDING UNTIL THE AUCTION HAS ENDED. PLEASE CONTACT ME AND WE CAN ARRANGE A TIME. I HAVE LISTED THIS VEHICLE TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY, BUT BEING A USED CLASSIC CAR IT IS NOT IN PERFECT CONDITION. All used vehicles should be assumed to have some degree of wear. No vehicle is perfect in any way. Each vehicle has its strengths, styles, tendencies and shortcomings. Therefore, despite our best efforts to verify a vehicle's mechanical condition, we are not able to warranty a manufacturer’s workmanship or previous owner’s diligence in care. It is for this reason that all vehicles are sold "AS IS". We have described the above mentioned vehicle to the best of our ability. However, with all pre-owned automobiles, the condition is subjective. Please be advised that no oral or written statements concerning any vehicle constitutes a representation or warranty of the condition of said vehicle. NOTE: I GET A LOT OF OFFERS TO END THESE AUCTIONS EARLY SO THEY WOULDN'T "MISS OUT AT THE END". MANY PEOPLE WARE NOT AWARE THAT THIS IS A "DUTCH" AUCTION. A DUTCH AUCTION ALLOWS YOU TO BID THE MAXIMUM THAT YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY AND EBAY WILL DO THE REST! YOUR BID WILL ONLY GO UP INCREMENTALLY TO AN AMOUNT JUST ABOVE SOMEONE ELSE'S BID UNTIL THE AUCTION ENDS. YOUR BID WILL NOT INCREASE UNLESS IT HAS TO AND MANY PEOPLE GET THE ITEM FOR LESS THAN THEIR MAXIMUM BID. IF HOWEVER, YOU ARE "OUTBID", EBAY WILL NOTIFY YOU BY EMAIL. AT THAT POINT YOU CAN MAKE THE DECISION AS TO WHETHER YOU WANT TO INCREASE YOUR MAXIMUM BID. Happy Bidding!!! Parker - 1-419-460-2277
