Vehicle Detail

1954 International Harvester Travelall R-112, very good “driver” condition. This was originally a rural school bus, and has always been painted as such. Having apparently originated in the mid-west, it was partially restored in CA by an IHC fan, from whom I bought it in 2007 and it has been very seldom used and always properly stored since. It has a perfectly running 240 6 cyl and 3 spd trans. Rubber as new on original rims. All window and door seals have been replaced; new wiring, brakes and steering components have also been installed. Interior needs completion, meaning for the most part a headliner and correct door panels. Second seat is not original and third seat is missing. I have driven it on the highway at 60MPH for 400 miles with no problems. I find I do not have the opportunity to use and enjoy this truck. It is getting harder to find these in decent shape and this truck gets lots of looks and questions whenever I take it out. I would classify this as a solid, nice driving Travelall – it is NOT fully restored to Concours condition but much of the hard work has been done. It is great as a driver as is, or it could easily be elevated to a high show standard. Seller can assist with delivery and transport logistics or storage for a reasonable period. On 04-Oct-13 at 00:25:45 EDT, seller added the following information: Additional Information & Comments: I have uploaded some further pictures in response to numerous requests. There is minor rust on the front floors, there are no holes and traces of the original paint is still in place. I lifted the mats and took pictures to illustrate this. The floor pan in the front is simply flat sheet metal. There is no rust in the rockers, cowl or in any of the door frames or hinge mounts. There are two pictures showing the inner wheel wells, which are rust free and in good condition. The truck has very obviously been school bus yellow all its' life. The dash and interior are clearly shown, the dash has been repainted at some point and is in great shape. The floor of the rear passenger area appears to be the original plywood which is still covered in the original ribbed rubberized flooring that is clearly evident. This is no doubt original and the wood floor beneath this is in great shape and has no problems that I could see at all. The front passenger seat lifts and pivots forward, and it is hinged at the front as shown. This is of course the original set up and the seats are in great shape with no upholstery work needed. Side windows in the passenger area slide open to permit ventilation and the truck has the original heater in good working condition. The rims are split rims and likely original. Some folks have commented that it is hard to get anyone to work on these but that has not been my experience with other trucks I have owned. Any truck pr agricultural tire shop will work on them. Electrical system is 6 volt but has an alternator in place - not sure why but it works well. I have left this vehicle in storage for up to 9 months and it starts by itself, which is remarkable for a 6 volt system with primitive ignition and a mechanical fuel pump. The engine runs like a watch and does not burn oil, I forgot to mention in the initial description that I had the carb rebuilt 500 miles ago due to a leak and there are no problems. There are very few leaks, seepage is all that I have noted. I have tried to describe and illustrate the true condition of the truck as accurately as I can through posting relevant pictures and comments.
