Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1996 Ford F350 XLT 4x4, Crew Cab, 7.3L Powerstroke Turbo Diesel (Aftermarket Intercooled), Automatic Transmission, 4.10 gear ratio (factory limited slip rear differential) with dual tanks. Truck has 6.5” of lift, shackle reversal, new 37” Goodyear MT/R (Load Range E) tires (only 1,000 miles on them) mounted on the good 24 bolt (not 12 bolt) Military HMMWV (Hummer) steel wheels with the military run flats installed. I have had the truck for almost 4 years/past 45,000 miles, it is my daily driver/project and never fails to get me around. The truck averages between 14 and 15.5 miles per gallon (combination of city/highway mileage). The speedo is calibrated to tire size, so this is accurate MPG’s I am reporting. States with slower speed limits on interstates (like Illinois) the truck has pulled 16.5 MPGs. My job requires me to move to Germany at the end of October and I can only ship one vehicle (my wife’s car) so this is the only reason why I am selling. The odometer reads 261,500 miles. I do not know if the engine is the original or remanufactured, but everything is factory correct and this is a factory 7.3L Powerstroke truck VIN. The title is listed as EXEMPT for the mileage reading. My research leads me to believe it is because the truck is more than 10 years old or a previous owner reported the odometer had broken and was replaced. It has an Alaska title that is owned by me (free and clear) and is easily transferred. I bought the truck in Las Vegas to help ensure this truck wouldn’t be a snowbelt rust bucket. I grew up in the rust belt and this truck has none of the tell-tale signs of salt corrosion or frame rot. It has light surface rust on the frame where the paint is no longer there. The body is rust free with minor exceptions (where the paint/clear coat no longer exist on the roof due to the sun/heat) and these spots can be seen in the pictures. There is no evidence of any body work ever being done (other than a non-professional repaint of the hood). I have no reason to believe there is a speck of bondo on this truck. The exterior I consider decent shape for age and mileage. The truck is a solid platform for whatever you have in mind. It runs well and starts with no problems. It does not drive like a dream truck, it is a rough/stiff ride, the motor isn’t super smooth like a new diesel, it runs like a 90’s diesel, has plenty of power, but lugs from time to time like the old diesels. It passes the cylinder contribution tests on high dollar scanners with no faults. This truck is not in mint condition; my explanations of known problems are honest and will follow as well and can be evidenced in some of the pictures. I want the buyer to be happy, but not at the same time to think they are getting a perfect “like new” truck. The suspension is rough like I stated earlier, but it does not bump-steer like many improperly lifted trucks. This truck is aligned and set up right, no stacked blocks and no body lift (just suspension lift). Here is a list of aftermarket parts/upgrades installed as well as the price I paid for the items; labor is not included in any of the prices since all work was done by me. REBUILD AT 250K MILES, BILLET TRIPLE DISC TORQUE CONVERTER ($4,100) Known Issues/problems: - Cruise control works intermittently (suspect cruise control module or PCM, but never could figure this issue out) - Small crack in dash - Headliner/visors starting to sag a little, stains/small hole in headliner - Wear/rip on driver’s seat - Stains on carpet - Paint on roof/windshield cowl faded/missing from sun (mild surface rust where paint no longer exists on roof) - Light surface rust on frame (not a snow belt vehicle) and no frame or body rot - Damage to right rear lower quarter panel from a tire blowout previous owner had - Golf ball size dent on left rear door and other very small dings on body - Scattered small dings/dents on tail gate/left bed corner - Scratches on exterior - Clear coat peeling on left bedside - Hood repainted a few years ago, not a professional job but color matches - Transmission downshift from 3rd to second gear happens late at times (suspect sensors/wiring). Depressing the accelerator when this happens will cause computer to downshift like it should have. This transmission was rebuilt by AAMCO at 250k mile (11,0000 miles ago in July 2012). This problem has been intermittent for past 5 months and has not worsened/changed. The trans temp since the rebuild has never exceeded 180 degrees and I guarantee I have not hauled anything or abused it to cause damage. I am not an expert in this area, but think this issue should be looked into/checked/repaired sometime in the future - Front door panels cracked, front power window/door lock switch/covers cracked - Rear fog lights not wired and probably do not work - Occasional small amounts of fuel or oil drips come off the back of the engine, but not all the time. I never have had to add oil between oil changes and am unable to locate the source since it is a very small amount and it does not drip very often.- Multiple chips in windshield, largest one measures about 2" across and has not spread since I have owned the truck, none obstruct my view - Previous owner had a gooseneck hitch installed as can be seen by the holes drilled in the bed. 7-Pin trailer wiring installed both inside the bed and rear bumper For those of you who like a truck that is legal ride height according to your state laws, I took the following measurements (the homework is up to you, I do not guarantee this truck is legal in all 50 states, check your inspection laws if required): Front bumper height at bottom of bumper-33” Rear bumper height at bottom of bumper-27.5” Frame height at lowest point on frame-28” Front headlight height at bottom of light assembly-51” Front headlight height at top of light assembly-56” Included with the truck is factory exhaust in case you need to pass inspections as well as a bunch of other parts I have collected over the years. Buyer needs to present a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance prior to taking possession of the vehicle. Down payment of $1,000 (U.S.D.) due within 3 days of auction close via Pay-Pal. Total payment and transfer of ownership is due within 14 days of auction close. Please do not bid or attempt to win this truck if you cannot meet payment requirements. I only have a limited time to sell this truck before I move to Germany. Please keep in mind that vehicles of this age are not generally financed through banks via a conventional vehicle loan due to its age. The truck is located in Bossier City, Louisiana (near Shreveport). Please let me know if you have questions not covered in this listing. Thanks for looking.
