Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my father's '55 Chevy 2 door post car. When he was building this car, it was going to be his last build, so he used the best parts available at the time in 2001-2002. Being his supposed last build, he went "all out" on it. While it is an 11 year old build, this '55 Chevy is a timeless classic, and who doesn't love a 2 door post? This build retains all the classic trim and appearance on the outside, but is all business on the inside. Starting with a relatively rust free car, the only panel replaced on the car was the rear valance below the truck lid and a replacement patch panel was fabricated to fill the hole where a previous owner had a floor shifter installed. The body was pulled off the frame and the work began. The RideTech Cool Ride air bag set up front and rear sets the car on the car on the ground. Along with the air ride on all four corners, the front suspension features 2 1/2" dropped spindles with 11" disc brakes and the rear features leaf springs that were mounted into the pocketed rear frame rails for a little more tire clearance. The rear wheel tubs are still stock size. The rear end housing is a 9" Ford with 3.90 gears and drum brakes. The wheels are 17" Boyd Coddington Smoothie 2's. He has a front sway bar for the car that is included, but not installed. With the frame and suspension finished, dad installed a rebuilt 396 big block Chevy that's been bored .030 over making it a 402 cubic inch. It's fed by a Holley 4 bbl carburetor. The transmission is a 700R4 with an electronic lock up converter. Factory cast iron manifolds expel the exhaust into the dual 3" pipes. The motor is cooled using a Griffin aluminum radiator. The body was reinstalled on the frame and the body work began. As stated before, the rear valance pan was replaced and the floor was repaired where someone had cut a hole for a floor shifter. The original color of Cashmere blue, but accented with Cadillac pearl white instead of the factory plain white paint, was sprayed by my father. Your eye is drawn instantly to this car. Once the paint was sanded and buffed, the 210 trim, new bumpers, door handles, grille, etc were installed. The glass is all new, with all the glass being gray, except for the green tinted windshield. Moving inside to the interior, the original seats were recovered with a 210 style reproduction upholstery kit. The dash is filled with Dakota Digital LED gauges including the clock. A Vintage Air Sure Fit air conditioning system (R134a freon) was installed to ease the summer heat. A Classic Radio AM/FM/Cassette was installed for when you want to listen to your favorite tunes. Then car was completely rewired using an EZ Wire harness. Other interior amenities include retractable lap belts, intermittent 2 speed electric wipers, powere steering, power brakes, a two tone painted LeCarra steering wheel with a horn ring. Once the car was finished, my father and I participated in Rod & Custom's Americruise around 2004 or 2005 where it photographed for a feature in Super Chevy magazine. Should you have any questions about something that I didn't cover in this description, please call my father, Delmar Baker at 814-934-8949 before 9pm EST. Asking a question via the eBay message system will only delay getting you an answer. The car has a clear title. It's only being sold to pursue other interests. Payment will only be accepted either in cash or bank wire transfer. NO CHECKS! A $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of auction close. Car will not be released for delivery until full payment has been made. Buyer is responsible for delivery and all expenses incurred. We will work with the buyer's choice of transport.
