Vehicle Detail
For Sale 1958 Chevrolet Biscayne 283ci, power glide, the car is numbers matching and 90% original, this a running and driving car. The drive-train is complete, and the car only needs a few new parts to be complete. Here is a list of the new drive-train components. Rear end removed, new bearings installed in the diff, it was thoroughly inspected and no defects found, new axle bearings, seals and fluid, new u-joints, center bearing, and strap kits. The engine was bored .030 over, new bearings throughout, APE main and head bolts, the crankshaft was turned, balanced and polished, I also had the snout of the crank drilled and tapped for easy balancer installation, all of the new pistons were balanced and new rings throughout. An original style balancer was installed, a mild 350ci cam was installed, new GM lifters, new Summit rocker's, pushrods were installed. A high flow oil pump, water pump, fuel pump, were also installed. Originally the car was a oil filter delete model, an aftermarket kit was used so now it accepts a GM oil filter. Before the machine work was performed by Carl Hinkson the block was cleaned and magnafluxed and found to be free of any defects. The heads were decked, new valves, valve guides, a 30% back cut was done on the valves and the seats were ground. The carb is believed to be original and was rebuilt, new points, cap, original date coded plug wires installed, new ballast resistor, nos generator, new engine harness, rebuilt starter, date coded heater hoses with the original spring clamps. I sent the heater control valve out and had it restored. The original oil bath air cleaner was sandblasted, primed and painted stock color with the OE decal. Brakes are all new, wheel cylinders, hardware, front and rear lines, master was rebuilt, all drums were turned, the front axle bearings were cleaned, inspected, and re-packed, new seals were installed. The transmission was removed cleaned, painted and re-installed with new input and output seals. The radiator and trans cooler were flushed and new transmission lines were installed. The engine and transmission mounts were replaced as well as the shift linkage bushings. The Suspension in the front is completely brand new to include, ball joints, tie rod ends, control arm bushings, draglink, idler arm, sway bar links and bushings, also new 2" drop springs were installed. Almost all of the removable interior sheet metal was sandblasted and primed, a new firewall pad was installed, the vent's were blasted and painted, new heater core and control cables were purchased. All of the original interior was saved and bagged accordingly. A new headlight switch, dash script, pedal pads, gas pedal and mounts and multiple misc grommets were purchased. The trunk is 90% new, original stamped panels were installed as well as new body mounts, I purchased a new fuel tank with straps and a sending unit. It does however need to be finished around the filler neck area. The floor pans need to be replaced. I have all of the panels they just need to be installed. The rears are not so bad, but the fronts are. I started removal of the rf but never finished installing it. New sill cover plates were purchased as well. The body needs some attention, the good news is that the fenders are finished at an expense of $1500, new lowers were installed on both sides and they were primed with a 2k primer. The front bumper braces were blasted and painted, most of the front bright work has been polished, minus the bumpers. The bumpers are driver quality at best, they are the 3 piece style. the headlight assemblies are basically restored and hew headlamp harnesses purchased. The roof bodywork is done, the hood and the trunk are 95% done. The grille, inner fenders and splash pans have been completed. The problem areas are the forward rh wheel well corner, wich I have a new patch panel for. Both rh+lh rear bumper mount areas, some work to the right of the filler neck at the trunk area and misc massaging if the doors and 1/4's. Items needed , exhaust, dash harness, interior unless you’re doing a rat rod or gasser, new trim clips if you’re keeping the trim, rear taillight assembles, weather-strip and the body work. This is a 1958 2dr with almost all of the mechanical aspects renewed and restored, over half of the body work has been done, it definitely still needs some love to be totally restored, but its a great start and at a great price. I have all of the glass, trim, bumpers, and all pieces that go with the car with me in my other vehicle if any interested parties would like to inspect them. Almost all of the parts removed from the car were saved and will come with the car. This could be transformed to a rat-rod, with minimal effort, it would also make a great gasser or could be restored to original. Attached are links to 5 videos, and a photo bucket account with multiple pictures of the car when purchased and through ought the restoration. I’m asking less than what I paid for the car originally. Please feel free to email, text or call with any questions you may have. 90% of the work to this car was performed by myself, I am an ASE certified Master Technician also i do not have a title for this car as the state of Maine does not require one. I can however register the car and pass over the registration to you. Most states will allow this as maine is. I have multiple links to 100+ pictures and 5 different videos of the car running, ebay will not allow me to post them here but i will gladly send you the links, just contact me and ill get them to you.
