Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is my 1967 Ford Mustang Convertible project that has been a few years in the making now. Starting with the basics, this car had been sitting in a barn for the last 25 years when I acquired it. The car was a basic inline 6 cylinder engine with the automatic C4 transmission. We completely gutted the car from front to back and started restoring it. There is some rust that has been patched and there is still some that needs to be addressed. However, what is left is minor in our opinion and easily fixable. The floorpans have been patched as they were not rotted through as most of these mustangs tend to be. The cowl was also repaired as these cars notoriously rusted around the fresh air vents. The engine was replaced with a completely rebuilt 302 from a 1969 mustang. I apologize, but the business that built the engine lost all of the information they had on it due to a fire so I am not sure exactly the specs of the engine. It was rebuilt from top to bottom. It comes with a Professional Products Hurricane polished intake manifold and a Holley 650cfm electric choke carb. Patriot polished headers are currently on the car as well. It has an all aluminum radiator. Everything in the engine bay is brand new. The gas pedal was replaced with a Lokar brushed aluminum throttle assembly, including the lokar stainless throttle cable. The brake pad was replaced with a matching brake pad as well. I have not started the engine yet as I do not have an exhaust on the car. The transmission was replaced with a freshly rebuilt AOD. The conversion of the AOD was done using a kit from transmissioncenter.org. So everything was done right. The kickdown cable was replaced using a lokar stainless steel kickdown cable and will need to be adjusted properly once the engine is running. The floor mounted shifter was replaced using Lokar floor mounted shifter. As I said, the transmission was rebuilt professionally and should be flawless in operation as well. The drive shaft was replaced with a refurbished one. The rear was replaced with a ford 8" rear. All seals were replaced that needed replaced and it currently has a 4.11 gear ratio. I do have two other 8" rear ends that I will include with the car, I do not know the ratio of the gears with those, but I do remember they were something along 2.5:1 and 3.2:1 (just a guess due to not looking for a couple of years). Suspension and brakes- The front and rear suspension was completely removed from the car and everything was replaced with v8 suspension pieces. New front and rear shocks as well. The car originally came with 4 wheel drums. The front drums were replaced with manual disc brakes from a kit through summit racing. They are nothing special, just standard disc brakes. The rear brakes were left drum but were rebuilt with all new parts. The emergency brake was moved from a foot operated system to a floor mounted e-brake. Again, Lokar was used for the e-brake cables and the floor mounted e-brake handle. The master cylinder is brand new. The proportioning valve was replaced using a SSBI adjustable valve and all new brake lines have been run as well. Wiring- The cars original wiring was completely removed and an American Auto Wire kit has been installed. However, it is not completed at this time. The remaining work is minor to do, but was not going to be done until those parts of the car were worked on. The rear lights need wired, front lights, etc. The major and time consuming parts of wiring are all completed such as instrument cluster, engine wiring, etc. My plan was simply to wire up the lights as the car was finished so there wasn't wire in the way. Body- As I said, there was rust, but not bad for this car. There was patch work done and pieces replaced. At one point, the car must have been dented on the passenger side rear quarter because there is some putty there. I have not done anything with it yet, so I don't know how much is putty. However, looking from the inside of the trunk, there is no visible damage in there. The rear wheel wells do have rust and will need patched or replaced depending on preference. The rear of the body, aside from wheels wells appears to be very solid without rust. As I stated earlier, the front floor boards were patched as they are still very solid and not completely rotted. Body Kit- I purchased all fiberglass pieces from Mustangs to Fear. If you do not know who they are, check out their website. They are hands down the best in the business when it comes to fiberglass. What I have for this car is the following: 1.) SR front nose with textured black lip spoiler 2.) Billet upper and lower grill. Upper grill has mounted driving lights with a halo ring around them if you chose to hook that up, looks very nice. 3.) Eleanor movie correct hood from Eleanor in gone in 60 seconds. beautiful front end shown in the pictures just placed on the car. (Also bought the hood pin mounts from them as well.) 4.) Eleanor style side scoops. Again, from the movie. Very nice side scoops. This is all I currently have as far as fiberglass pieces are concerned. These piece alone cost $2700.00 without freight of shipping. I currently have fenders on the car that are original mustang fenders. They are not the ones that came with the car, but they are in excellent shape without rust. The original doors will be included with the car as they have the glass and everything still in them. However, I have 2 additional original doors that are rust free that will come with the car. One door is from a fastback and the other is currently just a shell. Interior- The car is currently gutted inside except for the instrument cluster that is sitting in the car for wiring purposes. The cluster gauges are original, but all of the plastic and chrome was replaced using a scott drake kit. I have 4 front seats that will come with the car. 2 original to the car which are gutted and 2 I acquired locally that still have upholstery on them that needs replaced. I have the original back seat and interior pieces as well. The steering column is original, and has to original steering wheel on it right now, but I do have a Grant Classic Nostalgia steering wheel with a cobra horn button and the installation kit for it as well. The convertible top was removed and the frame remains on the car. It functions perfectly fine and is manually powered. It will need to be cleaned up and repainted before installing a new top. Misc: I will include anything and everything I have for this car with it. I have bought an exhaust from the mufflers out the back, you will need a custom bent piece from headers to exhaust. I will include the rear ends, I bought new LED sequential taillights. The gas tank/sending unit is brand new. I have quite a few other pieces lying around as well. I did the best I could in describing this car. It is being sold AS IS and returns will not be accepted in any way. If there is something you would like to see on the car, just send me a message and I will do my best to show you. If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to ask me. This car is just about ready to be on the road. I've just had a lot to deal with lately, and selling this car is my only choice.
